OT, but I once emailed Sony about several of Square Enix's PSP games not being released digitally. Their reply was "lol talk to SE." So I emailed SE and their reply was "lol no." My reply was "lol k guess I'm pirating them."

I bring up games I would like ported, localized, or made all the time in my Club Nintendo surveys, but who knows if anyone actually reads those.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I get that that's frustrating, and there are some things I wish Nintendo would add to the Wii U line up, but the point I'm trying to get at is that if they don't listen through their own surveys, they certainly aren't going to listen because it's posted on a forum.

All I'm trying to get at is there's nothing wrong with constructive debate, but recently the forums have just become a place where any fool with an idea tries to get involved in a long-winded debate over nothing and it's getting tiring.

I'm sure the game will do great and all but Nintendo needs to do something big!! For the Holidays. Make a bundle with Smash and make the game-pad with designs of Smash bros. Or do a Bayonetta Bundle or something that Will get people tempted to buy a Wii U this Holiday season. Cause lets face it once people see XB1 and Wii U has the same price-range as each other but XB1 has bundles and it includes game boy do I feel bad for Nintendo. Just saying, no one needs to get mad here. Just in case.

No, when a company makes a product someone uses or is interested in, it makes sense to pay attention to what they are doing. It impacts their decision making, which can impact the product you get. And it makes sense to have an opinion on what they should do to simultaneously make money and make you happy.

This is why people say "Ford should do this, Apple should do this, BP should do this".

Business isn't really rocket science or quantum physics. It's pretty easy to understand the fundamentals.

Is that why I see a lot of "Company A is evil, lazy, and stupid for not doing this one thing that I want?!!" ...even if it makes no sense?

Nintendo has already won this year's E3 so let alone make a comeback. Star Fox was even confirmed before e3 even started!

Even if I buy the Wii U, there are only about seven games that I want from the system and its kinda like the Wii to me with not much of games that I want to play. Nintendo needs to have that strong lineup of games like how they did with 3DS. That is when the Wii U will boost sales.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

TBH I don't know why people should care about sales that much and I think we're all just a bit spoilt by gaming these days. I remember when I played my brother's Sega Master System as a kid he had maybe five games or so on a system that relatively speaking wasn't a huge hit. Dwarfed by the NES. Why should I have cared? The games were fun. Alex Kidd, Sonic, Outrun, Astro Warrior and My Hero. Then my original Gameboy, for the maybe five years or so I had it before the Gameboy Color I only had maybe 7 games total. About half of them were games like Tetris, Dr Mario or Mario & Yoshi which would now be a small eShop download that'd tide you over for a week or so. But I played them and games like Pokemon, Donkey Kong Land and Super Mario Land 2 to death and was more than happy with it.

So when I see endless threads about how there aren't the games or how the sales are bad I call BS. There's no way you can't be enjoying the Wii U if you grabbed one. What a load of bull. As of right now I have 13 full retail Wii U games, 10 Wii U eShop titles, 14 3DS games and 8 3DS eShop games. Games like Mario Kart 8, Animal Crossing New Leaf, A Link Between Worlds, Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3 and Kid Icarus Uprising, Steamworld Dig, Bit Trip Runner 2, Mighty Switch Force and Child of Light. And people are seriously making threads about how dire the situation is with Nintendo's console sales and their lack of games? I mean really. The consoles might not be lighting the cash registers as much as Sony's box is but who gives a damn? IMO the Wii U right now is more enjoyable than the Wii was at the same point. So just play your games, you have HEAPS to pick from and most are a lot of fun.

To what extent has that actually changed things? We still knew about what other games were around in the 90s. We had shows that featured new games, we had gaming magazines and demo units in shops. We had that kid at school who bragged about how they've got the newest consoles and games. The cycle is much, much faster, that's true. There is the ability for people to group onto forums and take what was only ever a 5 second schoolyard argument and have it with hundreds of people of all ages.

But at the end of the day we're still sitting down and having some fun with a virtual world for a few hours. And if anything has changed it's the fact that the games we get now are by all measures a lot more impressive and a lot cheaper than they used to be. So people should stop complaining.

In a better world Diablo 3's and Minecraft's console priority would've been the Wii U. We don't live in that world though.

I would be very surprised if many people knew of the existence of even just the imports that were on the Wii VC in the 90's

Once magazine I read had a few but the coverage was by no means exhaustive. (But in other ways it was better the reviews weren't basically PR).

Which is largely irrelevant to the point I was making. Consumers in the 90s still knew that Japan got games we had never heard about. They still saw stuff about the newest games on consoles they didn't own. And maybe this is bit more of an Australian thing but games were a lot more expensive than they are now. Mostly because of inflation and the fact that games in general are cheaper but also because free to play games, demos and smaller indie games are that much more accessible now.

I just think it's a load of BS the way that there are endless threads about how doomed the Wii U is and how few games there are. The thing is probably still going to outsell the Gamecube, it's almost surely going to be a net-profit for Nintendo and compared to the games we got in the 90s it's spoiling its users. Even if you ignore the march of technology. I remember Tetris & Dr Mario being one of my favourite SNES games, these days we get Wind Waker HD and it's all "meh, it's a port so it doesn't count". Who cares, just enjoy your games. It's 2014, you're spoilt for choice.

As for this topic, about Wii U. There is no comeback. X1 succeed, PS4 will succeed and Wii U will just be off elsewhere. It comes back to the devil, third parties. Its more than that, but its key reason among all U's problems.

I also had about 5 games, that people didn't even hear about. Darkman, a licensed game, is IMO the best Gameboy game I love that game. Then I got an 82 in 1 cart.

My point is there was stuff I would have imported (And could pretty easily get around the region lock) that I didn't even know about that is very different to what it is like now. (I knew nothing about the TG16 even other than the portable £300 Turbo Express existed). Now I know pretty much everything available.

Whether you are spoilt for choice depends on what genres you like. (My favourite games are Metal Slug / Contra / Gunstar Heroes and the old style shmups like M.U.S.H.A). I am not spoilt for choice even buying every single one on Steam..

And? Genres rise and fall in popularity all the time that doesn't really impact on the point I was making. I'm sure in ten years time there'll be someone complaining about the fact that there aren't as many First Person Shooters as there were in the the 00's and 10's. The fact that you can still find games from unpopular genres is in itself proof of how spoilt we are.

Ok, sure, fair enough, we didn't know about obscure pieces of hardware outside of the few main players. So what? People barely think outside of the same sort of collection of consoles these days. You still knew during the SNES era that Sega had a Mega Drive. You still knew during the N64 era that Sony had their Playstation. You heard about the games they had, you had some sort of sense about which one was more popular. They were still fun systems.

WaLzgi wrote:

I think that's the main thing. In which case I think it's time us reasonable people take a bit of a stand and stop pandering to it. I'm sick of all these threads about sales projections and rants about doom. Who cares? The games are fun. The games were fun on previous consoles that were "doomed". We're living in a time where we have more games then we know what to do with. So people should stop complaining.

Aren't you in fact complaining with that last post? People that complain about other people complaining are not any better. If you don't like these threads don't post in them, it's pretty simple.

That's not as clever as it sounds. I'm not complaining about the same thing. I'm fine with people complaining about things on the internet, I never said that I wasn't. I simply made the point that I'm sick of all these threads about how bad a position Nintendo and the Wii U are in. How somehow Wii U owners should all be crying about the fact that it's "missing out". Well I'm sorry, it's not doomed, it's going to do well enough and we're more spoilt for choice than we have ever been. The complaint is baseless so here I am complaining about the people who want to whine about this topic.
