Topic: Nintendo Movement by Shokio, what do you think?

His logic, as always, seems to only scrape the surface. The only reason Nintendo released Earthbound and Xenoblade is because the moves were rather low-risk. All Nintendo had to do in both cases was port already existing forms of games to specific regions. The North American version of Xenoblade features no changes and from my understanding was heavily due to Gamestop's investments. I can't speak for Earthbound, but it was already translated. Heck, it was only digital. All we can ever expect to come out of Nintendo by begging them is low-risk ports, but nothing more. It's good that he isn't demanding anything major, but I don't even see these things as being worth implementing to Nintendo, especially the ones toward the end. We're going to have to do more if we want anything significant.

Not really fair to compare a multiplatform game on not even the most popular platform to a single platform game. Plus you're ignoring the fact that Nintendo has much, much bigger hits than Irrational Games has that they can lean on. Also that the Bioshock franchise actually sold 11mill vs the 7mill of the Metriod Prime series including spinoffs.

It's all about relative success. It's like if Rockstar came out and said "hey, you know GTA? Well we're going to slow down on GTA and focus on LA Noire, Manhunt and Max Payne". We'd all think they were crazy because GTA is the thing that makes them the monies. Same thing with Nintendo favouring Kart, Zelda, Mario, Smash etc over new Metriods and Starfoxes.

My point is that the Metroid Prime games did pretty well as opposed to what people sometimes say around here, i was not trying to put it on equal footing with Bioshock. Just showing that MP had good numbers.

Well I can't speak for what others say so I'm not going to comment on that. However in this thread I haven't actually said or even intended to imply that Metriod Prime games sells badly compared to games in general. They do fairly well compared to a lot of franchises. What I've been saying is that 0Nintendo has a whole bag of other games that have done a lot better. So it shouldn't come as a shock when Nintendo pours resources into those games over the next Metriod, Starfox or F-Zero.

They've got a list of maybe ten solid franchises off the top of my head where Metriod probably ranks 10th in terms of sales. Of those 9 above it we've probably heard from about 6 or so for Wii U already, they're going down that list. If we were to rank them based on critical acclaim then it has probably got itself lodged in the top 3. The problem is that critical acclaim, while awesome, doesn't make money. Sales do.

Ok, just wanted to correct the notion of metroid prime not selling well , wich is often repeated ...as people can see , MP's numbers are compatible with other highly popular franchises , as bioshock was never considered a failure on ps3. My point is that 1,5 million is very good .

Merge the Wii Menu with the Wii U Menu....... I mean, does the 3DS has a separate menu to be able to play last-gen games (DS) and DSiWare outside the 3DS Menu? No, it doesn't. But the Wii U DOES!!!! Navigation is plain annoying and it's nearly impossible to shift between Wii U and Wii while keeping Off-TV Play without turning it off and doing the B trick..........

Totally. I'd probably play my old WiiWare, VC stuff if I could do that. I mean the disc channel jumps into Wii mode when I put in a Wii disc so what's the dilly-yo? How about also allowing internal storage to masquerade as SD - why the 512MB cap for WiiWare/Wii VC? I have an external HD so the internal storage on my basic system isn't being used for anything but the OS!

Seems pretty delusional if you ask me.

After all, if it took them that long to localise Xenoblade and the others (even if it eventually did get done) and they've completely ignored campaigns like Operation Moonfall, why does he think his campaign will be the one they'll listen to?

If he does succeed though, awesome. His ideas sound like good ones.

The thing about Xenoblade, Earthbound and Majora's Mask is that they are clear, simple, well defined aims. Not only that but all of them can and do make sense for Nintendo. For Majora's Mask, which you claim isn't coming, they have made it clear that they are looking at it. When asked about it Miyamoto and Aonuma have made a point of saying that it's still on the table. Which is fair given that OoT 3D sold fairly well.

Ok, I'm rambling. Let me finish by saying that compared to those campaigns this one is pretty vague. It's mostly just a request for minor improvements through firmware updates. When it's not it's a request for more games without any specific games in mind other than "the good non-kiddie kind". Even worse they then complain about the games that have come out because they didn't have good enough online modes............ really.... Mario.... not "online" enough.... no

Same reason why the Wii required a Gamecube controller and GC Memory Card to play Gamecube games. It's not a "compatibility mode" as much as it's almost an actual Wii inside of the Wii U that you boot into.

You can play your wiiware, but you need to transfer the memory of your wii to the wii u...its a tiresome process, unfortunately

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I honestly don't think cross buying is going to happen. Otherwise they would have already done it

And by the movement's logic, I should get the Xbox One version of a game free if I own the game for the PS4

At most I think Nintendo would offer a discount if you want it on both systems... I wouldn't even take advantage of that for most games (maybe just a couple of my favorite titles of all time). Basically I buy portable VC games on my 3DS and home console VC games on my Wii U. The GBA and DS VC stuff is going to change that but it isn't a big deal.

I know you're joking but its like your ignoring the fact crossbuy has been available on Playstation since the PSP and PS3 like 8 years ago.

But cross buying wasn't an option for Xbox and Games for Windows Live or Xbox and Windows Phones
So why aren't we attacking Microsoft for this stuff?

Less than a majority of companies that sell games allow cross-buy.

I have no idea the number of games those platforms shared so I can't really make an accurate but I'd say its has to do with dedicated gaming devices and non-dedicated gaming devices for comparison in terms of Playstation for PSP and PS3 most PS1 games were crossbuys as well as minis, Vita even has retail crossbuys albeit only a small range.
