Are we going to demand Nintendo to re-work Nintendo Network features right before Mario Kart and Smash Bros come out? That seems unreasonable. Are we going to demand Nintendo to dump their money into reviving dead franchises while Nintendo is struggling to reach a sustainable install base? That seems unreasonable. Are we going to ask Nintendo to give Virtual Console more priority? That actually seems reasonable, but it would be unreasonable to demand a certain number of releases a week as no one truly knows what their process for VC is. (People think they know but they don't know for sure) So what exactly is this Miiverse thing going to do to help the Wii U and/or Nintendo?

Personally, I don't think this "movement" is some sort of act to demand things from Nintendo but rather to "Remind" Nintendo on what the fans really want and the improvements they want to see for the Wii U. Hey they are a bunch of busy people, a reminder or two couldn't hurt

Remind them of what, their struggling system? The games they have in the pipeline and are trying to get them out as fast as possible? That 1 signature on a petition doesn't equal 1 sold copy of a game? What fans want and what will equal sales are rarely the same thing. If you go into the VC Forums of this very site you will see "fans" saying if they bring Super Mario Bros. 3 to Wii U VC it will sell so many Wii Us. It is Nintendo's business to entertain us, I don't think they need to be reminded.

The problem I see is that with the Wii U, Nintendo is afraid to act. A mere 5 million units are out there, and they have to find a way to ensure that they get enough of those sales to justify making the game, in the first place. Now, Iwata, himself, has stated that they have plenty of money in reserve that he'll dip into, if he needs to, so they do possess the funds to make the games people are asking for, but the problem is that people grossly overestimate the power of one voice to a company. Hundreds, thousands, even tens of thousands of voices are still just a fraction of the people they need on board to justify putting the development cycle into action for something like F-Zero. Star Fox is a different story, as they have a 3rd party company that's willing to go 2nd party for a shot at Fox McCloud and the other spacies, but that team is currently tied up entirely, so while a Platinum-developed Star Fox isn't impossible, it's gonna be a while before they have the resources to work on it, at all. (And don't tell me they do, unless you're willing to explain out the ENTIRE development process and show me which part of it they're currently in and how a Star Fox development process would run alongside that. I don't mind argument, but if you're not gonna back it up with real logic, I'm not interested in hearing it.)

As for Metroid, Nintendo KNOWS you guys want it. They are painfully aware of that fact. They never forgot, and they even let you know they were thinking about you at the VGX. There may be a Metroid game in early development, but guys, IT WILL NOT BE MADE OVERNIGHT!

The biggest problem I have with this movement is that it absolutely reeks of the same impatience that brought upon us the ill-prepared Sonic '06. Want to know what happens, when you rush a game that isn't even remotely complete? Go fight Silver as Sonic or Shadow in that game and then come tell me that you want that to happen to Metroid.

if you don't like it go away and find something you like. discussing isn't wrong but wanting to change a company you don't own to fit your personal tastes isn't only dumb it's irrational.

I do agree on some of your points, but I think you are missing something here. The Miiverse is not just a random site that anyone can access. The Miiverse is an exclusive place for Wii U owners and Wii U owners only. So the voices spoken up there will definitely contain more promises than the so called Petition signings.

It's totally fine if you choose to be indifferent, however that are some of Nintendo fans out there who wants to voice their opinion and hopefully Nintendo would take notice.

(It is Nintendo's business to entertain us, I don't think they need to be reminded) Seriously? It is Nintendo's business to make money sounds more correct to me if I'm honest

Sometimes people make good decisions and sometimes bad decisions. Nobody makes the correct decision all the time. By "Reminding" Nintendo, it might give them a new idea or two who knows? If the movement doesn't affect Nintendo then at least we gave Nintendo the confidence on there is a lot of fans out there still having faith in the Wii U!

Agreed. It is one thing to remind, but to demand is totally crazy and stupid in my opinion.

@Hy8ogen
As a business Nintendo needs to make money but they are an entertainment business. I am still finding it hard to see something this "movement" can do that Nintendo hasn't stated they are looking into it. What is this "movement" about? What are they trying to remind Nintendo of? People want certain games and that will never change. I will always want Star Fox to be in the works. I personally could see how an Assault style Star Fox, maybe mixed with Battlefront, would be awesome and sell a lot, but history shows different. So what is this movement about? What is this movement suppose to remind Nintendo of?

From my understanding, this "Movement" is trying to tell Nintendo what the fans are interested in and letting them know what kind of improvements on the UI we would want to see. Mainly to voice our opinions to Nintendo and hope they take notice.

However I'm not too sure if this is what people have in mind. If this turned out to be one of those stupid petition things and trying to demand stuff from Nintendo aggressively then I'm going to stay out of it.

Just wanted to let people know this is the "movement's" goals

This will be the official topic for all plans regarding the “attack”. Just list your suggestions below, and I will list the most common ones and everyone can decide on whether or not it’s cool. Also, we’ll make a list of things that really shouldn’t be asked for (Such as region locking, Nintendo has already commented on that and are COMPLETELY against it.)

NOTE: DO NOT go off spamming Twitter, FB, or Miiverse by yourself. To be effective, we have to plan set times and do it together. If you go off by yourself, Nintendo will just see you as another annoying spammer.

So far, we have:
1) Folders
2) Cross-game Chat
3) Cross-buy VC games. If I have a game on my Wii U, I shouldn’t have to re-buy it for 3DS.
4) eShop gifting, like the Wii could do.
5) 3DS Messaging system
6) Join Game feature, like on 3DS. Or invites.
7) On-screen notifications
8) Media playback via SD Card
9) Things to hold us over during droughts, such as the Re-U-Magined concept. Inide games are great but everyone’s not into them and a lot of those lack true longevity.
10) Faster developed games, as AONUMA said himself. You can’t have huge gaps when you lack the 3rd party support.
11) New Pro controllers with audio jacks (and analogue triggers)
12) Let us navigate the WHOLE system with just the Pro controller and WiiRemote. You cannot access settings unless you have the gamepad.
13) Too much focus on the younger audience, pay attention to your old-school fans who are much older now.
14) GamePad off function. If we’re not using it, and shouldn’t have to be on wasting battery life.
15) A push for online on console games. NSMB, Nintendo Land, 3D World, all HUGE missed opportunities that could’ve provided longevity.
16) Voice chat for these games. It’s 2014, and Nintendo can no longer afford to try to keep the kiddos safe.

Things that aren’t priorities or fixes, but we would love to have.
1) Achievement system
2) Menu customization (colors at least)
3) The ability to play Classic Controller compatible Wii games on the Wii U GamePad.
4) Let us upload gameplay clips to Miiverse
5) Custom Miiverse communities, as promised back in the January 2013 Direct.
6) GameCube games on VC.

Things we will NOT ask for
1) Ending region locking. It’s not happening, they said so themselves, and I don’t think it’s something that can be patched anyway.
2) A new Metroid. A new Metroid game is undoubtedly coming to Wii U.
3) Streaming capabilities. It’d be nice, but not at all necessary and the system may not have been built for that feature.
4) 3rd party games. These are things that are up to 3rd parties, not Nintendo.
5) Unified account system. Nintendo was aware of this problem before the Wii U even launched and have already stated that they will work on it.

If there’s anything you want to take off, add, or alter on any of these lists, let me know.

EDIT: Formatted, should be easier to read now

Stuff on that list isnt far fetched imo. A lot of it just might help the Wii U be more appealing to those that haven't bought the console yet.

I would totally buy the Pro controller with Analog triggers and audio jack. The current Pro controller is okay, but playing COD with headphones on can be annoying sometimes because it has to be plugged into the gamepad. The Analog triggers would be a good add on for racing games such as Project Cars or even Mario Kart.

Not really fair to compare a multiplatform game on not even the most popular platform to a single platform game. Plus you're ignoring the fact that Nintendo has much, much bigger hits than Irrational Games has that they can lean on. Also that the Bioshock franchise actually sold 11mill vs the 7mill of the Metriod Prime series including spinoffs.

It's all about relative success. It's like if Rockstar came out and said "hey, you know GTA? Well we're going to slow down on GTA and focus on LA Noire, Manhunt and Max Payne". We'd all think they were crazy because GTA is the thing that makes them the monies. Same thing with Nintendo favouring Kart, Zelda, Mario, Smash etc over new Metriods and Starfoxes.

Merge the Wii Menu with the Wii U Menu....... I mean, does the 3DS has a separate menu to be able to play last-gen games (DS) and DSiWare outside the 3DS Menu? No, it doesn't. But the Wii U DOES!!!! Navigation is plain annoying and it's nearly impossible to shift between Wii U and Wii while keeping Off-TV Play without turning it off and doing the B trick..........

1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 11, 15, 16
I couldn't care less about these ones. It's either trivial (folders and media playback), unnecessary (online modes for Mario, really?) or something I'd personally be disabling/ignoring (voice chat, on screen notifications, 3DS messaging etc).

3, 4, 6, 12, 14
These are nice things, some very nice indeed. However they're also the sort of thing that happens in big system updates anyways. When the Wii U launched the #1 thing on that sort of list would have been off-TV play for Wii games. We got that. Then they also pushed out the updates that allowed downloads in standby mode. Though if this was just a campaign to push for cross-buy maybe I'd be on board. The rest of these ones, and others we didn't know we wanted, are probably going to happen without "fan intervention".

9, 10, 13
Really? You think Nintendo doesn't know that a section of its fanbase wants more games and more games suited to their interests on the gaming console? You really need to petition for this? You think they don't see the numbers for games like CoD, Assassin's Creed and GTA? If you don't like some of the games Nintendo makes then either actually buy the ones you claim to want when they come out or just go to a different system. Period. Done. End of story.

A lot of their main goals seem either unreasonable, unnecessary (to ask for, I mean, as they're coming, anyways), or just plain pointless. I'm sorry, but Nintendoland, NSMBU, and SM3DW would have gained next to nothing from online play. Admit it. You'd go online, get trolled, and then never go online again. That stuff isn't funny, unless your friends are the ones doing it, and the majority of the time, you'd be playing with total strangers. Ok, so they could've made a join game feature for it so you could play with friends elsewhere in the world. That might be nice, but you KNOW people would just continue to complain that they have to be friends with the person to join.

Their things that they'd like but aren't required would be a MUCH better focus than the things they're actually focusing on. I'd absolutely ADORE an achievement system, Hey, it could even be optional! Uploading short gameplay clips would be awesome, too! And, would you look at that, you can! In DKCTF, you can play Time Attack mode, and if your score is at least Bronze, you can upload the replay to the leaderboards. All they'd have to do is integrate the leaderboards with Miiverse, and there's your answer! Menu customization would be neat. Classic controller stuffs on Wii just makes sense (and may already be in the works), and we've been waiting impatiently for GCN VCs for quite some time, now! Why are THESE the things they're focusing on? They're reasonable, nice, and anyone can use them.

Everything else just seems to reek of "Oh, Nintendo would never give this to us" (referring to the bottom list), and "the other consoles have this, so you should, too, despite the fact you may not even be able to add it, at this point."

Well I can't speak for what others say so I'm not going to comment on that. However in this thread I haven't actually said or even intended to imply that Metriod Prime games sells badly compared to games in general. They do fairly well compared to a lot of franchises. What I've been saying is that Nintendo has a whole bag of other games that have done a lot better. So it shouldn't come as a shock when Nintendo pours resources into those games over the next Metriod, Starfox or F-Zero.

They've got a list of maybe ten solid franchises off the top of my head where Metriod probably ranks 10th in terms of sales. Of those 9 above it we've probably heard from about 6 or so for Wii U already, they're going down that list. If we were to rank them based on critical acclaim then it has probably got itself lodged in the top 3. The problem is that critical acclaim, while awesome, doesn't make money. Sales do.

Seems pretty delusional if you ask me.

After all, if it took them that long to localise Xenoblade and the others (even if it eventually did get done) and they've completely ignored campaigns like Operation Moonfall, why does he think his campaign will be the one they'll listen to?

Practically speaking, I doubt it'll happen. I like fan ideas and stuff as much as anyone else, but I've never been under the illusion Nintendo gives a damn about them. Heck, even my ideas (which I mostly put in the public domain in case Nintendo wants to use them and to avoid legal issues) are unlikely, and those I'm practically giving away.

If he does succeed though, awesome. His ideas sound like good ones.

1,2,3,5,6,7,8,14 and 15
All good ideas (some more than others) that should be possible via system updates to make the system more accessible, the rest I either don't care about or are just nit picky my gripe with this movement is Shokio himself I really don't think he should be leading this.
