Interesting. Although I wouldn't say that they're doing this to "survive". It seems more like they're trying to make a wider audience by reaching out to tablet gamers too.

If you don't own a smartphone/tablet try to check on one & you'll see the full catalog of games on mobile devices. The iPhone alone has over a thousand categorized into 19 sections from action games down to word games. It's just so many & most of it for free.

They might have a problem in doing this.

The company faces problems on both fronts, however. The GamePad controller doesn’t support multi-touch, which would rule out a number of very successful smartphone games including "Cut the Rope".

Nintendo won't make games for smartphones. It will instead will bring games from smartphones to the Wii U. This is funny.

Quality over quantity. Compare 3DS games to iPhone/Mobile games and there's a significant difference in quality. It will always be this way. I own and love both though.

And can you go a little faster?!

Thread header is a bit misleading. I read it as Nintendo is making smartphone games.

The fact that you're also referencing a fake article doesn't help.

An app? Not a game?

I'd be more excited about the possibility of apps like NBA TV and Crunchy Roll, if that's what it means.

Not sure what mobile devices you're using but it must be very old cuz in newer mobile devices the quality is vastly improved that comparing it to 3DS doesn't make any sense.

The quality of games on mobile devices is vasty improved. It's way better than 3DS. Full games like Need for Speed: Most Wanted lacks some anti-aliasing but the quality is similar if not better than what you get on the original Wii. Some games like EA's Real Racing 3 more or less looks like games you'll see on current gen consoles (including the Wii U).

Ironically some eShop games became smartphone games and vice versa!

Wait a second, you're telling me that Nintendo is going to get people to buy the Wii U by porting over games from smartphones people already have acess to and have the ability to play on thier smartphone and that Nintendo need to do this to survive. Please explain the logic to me here. I'm not seeing it, only disapproval from Spock.

Edit: also, I've been over the App Store many times. Console games will offer a better experience than iPhone games. I've been over the App Store many times and played iPhone games, consoles win.

I think that's pretty pathetic considering how much they cost to buy.

The mobile market is saturating its inventory with free games. This will kill the portable console market. This is an inevitable consequence of technological advancement. It's like Blockbuster for rental movies, Xerox for photocopying & Kodak for digital cameras. Soon point & click cameras too will met its end as smartphones coming like Samsung Galaxy S4 now have 13 megapixels on its built in camera that can match most top of the line point & click cameras today.

You are comparing two different games, but I can do that also. I have an iPhone 5 64GB and Droid Razr Maxx. Final Fantasy Tactics on my iPhone compared to something like Fire Emblem on 3DS is big difference. Not saying mobile is lacking graphics power, but let's be real. Rage as an FPS is fun on the phone - don't get me wrong. I don't sit and play Angry Birds for hours like I do most of my 3DS games. Quality wise, mobile games lack. Yes they have good ports but that's about it.
