Topic: Nintendo franchises you're not a fan of?

Most of us are pretty big Nintendo fans here, but that doesn't mean we have to love everything they do. What are some Nintendo games/franchises that just aren't your thing, not necessarily games you think are bad but that you just can't get into?

For me, it has to be Pokémon. I just don't get it. Too be fair, I am 38 and maybe that makes a difference and I've never played any of the series. That being said, there is nothing about it that makes want to try it out.

Kirby. I have not been able to get used to the transformations and the control scheme. I like Kirby as a character though.

Every other franchise besides Xenoblade, Fire Enblem and Pokemon...

Most of the mario sports franchises except strikers, that has more to do with my lack of interest in the real life sport. I love the arcade sports titles like wave race and 1080 though. I'm also not a big Mother fan. Star Fox for me is boring but I have played most of them. Other than that I either like the majority of Nintendo franchises or there are a few that I have not played like star tropics.

Kirby; Donkey Kong Country; Smash Brothers; Star Fox & PilotWings don't do much for me

Mario Party & Animal Crossing are the biggies I'm not intrested in.

I just can't get into that top tier Nintendo franchise 1080 Snowboarding.

Seriously though, I don't get it. Maybe the actual fun is locked behind that extra pack where they hid the story in Perfect Dark (so mad).

I stopped playing Pokémon games a while ago. The franchise went from ahead of its time to behind the times, and refuses to fix any of the series' fundamental flaws. Luckily for me DQM is better anyway. As for everything else;

  • Starfox
  • F Zero
  • Kirby (for the most part)
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • Wario Land
  • Super Smash Bros
  • Mother/Earthbound

The Metriod series. Don't get me wrong, I play/own most of the console versions but for the life of me I can't get into the detail story or complete, much less beat the game. The only one I got into enough to complete the game and enjoy the story is the one most people hate in the series (Other M).

Also Fire Emblem because of the Permadeaths, but all that changed with FE: Awakening.

A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

Whole franchises? Kirby, outside of Kirby's Adventure. And Fire Emblem except for Awakening, though I guess Fire Emblem Gaiden was okay, too.

Other than that, I've enjoyed at least a couple of games in every franchise of Nintendo's that I've played.

EDIT: Okay, I forgot about Smash Bros. I like the newest one, though. It feels just right.

Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Nintendogs, Pikmin, Zelda, Mario Party... actually, this will just go faster if I list the ones that I am a fan of:

Mario platformers, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and DKC. I'll throw Star Fox 64 in there as well, but I'm just a fan of that one game (and the 3DS remake); the rest of the games in the series are pretty awful.

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

I personally like most of Nintendo's games, but if it has to be a few franchises I dislike, I guess I dislike Paper Mario and Rhythm Heaven.

Edit: My explaining is that Rhythm Heaven I just can't get into. Sure, it's a game that most folks really enjoy, but I played RHF at a Gamestop store demo once, never played it again because it really sucked imo. As for Paper Mario...I really want to find an excuse to like PM, but it bores me to tears EVERY SINGLE TIME I DO A PLAYTHROUGH. The Mario RPGs are fine, but Paper Mario I don't think I could get into to save my life.

Animal Crossing and Pikmin would be the major ones for me I guess. They're just not appealing to me at all.

And I'm not huge on platformers in general, so that makes a fairly large portion of Nintendo's catalog a little meh actually.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Earthbound is a charming game, but I can see people not enjoying it if they don't like Dragon Quest-style Combat and/or the game's humor. Mother 3 is also significant;y darker, to the point where I actually find the game off-putting going from Earthbound. And Mother 1 is kinda really bad. Like, as annoying as Dragon Quest II bad...that's pretty bad...

How awkward that Dragon Quest is my favourite video game franchise then, despite Earthbound being on my list. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all the cool RPG mechanics they have in the game (Like weaker enemies running from you, auto-finished battles etc.), but I still didn't enjoy it.
