I would have been put in a straight jacket if last week I had said:
"you know what? The Wii U does look average now but just you wait. Next week they'll hold a fairly spontaneous Nintendo Direct. They'll anounce a couple of firmware updates that'll improve the performance of menus and such and then they'll start talking about new games. They'll anounce the VC and it'll include the ability to repurchase your old games at heavily discounted prices with the first game out right after the Nintendo Direct. They'll confirm a new 3D Mario and Mario Kart to be playable on the Wii U for E3, they'll anounce a new Yoshi game and they'll also show a couple of new RPGs one which is very Xenoblade like. They'll also talk about new Zelda, a new one for the Wii U which will be a while yet but also a HD remake of Wind Waker with shiny pics. Oh and they'll tell us that Smash Bros will be at E3"

Some playlists: Top All Time Songs, Top Last Year
"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

True. And honestly up to the miiverse part I was still thinking "thats it, now tell us youre working on a mario kart and some day vc will come, thats it". And it turned out so much better. I wasn't too impressed about the patches honestly, I think they come rather late and should have been adressed in 2012 still, but thats just me. Im also interested in seeing Miiverse spread and grow, for some it might be no big deal but Im HERE on nintendolife for similar reasons I will be on miiverse, to talk about games and share my hobby with others. Clever move on Nintendo's part imho.

I think that the quality and excitement of Nintendo Directs just vary with what can be announced at the time. The ones with massive announcements- I.E., this one- tend to have a lot of hype, though the December one wasn't regarded that well because people expected a massive announcement, yet they chose to reveal nothing new. They're getting more well-made for sure, though.
I'm so happy that Nintendo can keep everyone in check, and I'm glad that the Directs are becoming more frequent, too.

Having the CEO of the company give a presentation like this is just so brilliant and does so many things. As a system owner from day 1 I get to be hyped about the news, but I also get to feel like part of the "Nintendo family": Iwata-san addressing the concerns of the fans on-camera indicates he has nothing to hide and he's not trying to play us. ... Overall it leaves me feeling great that I bought a Wii U on day one and that I'm continuing my gaming journey with Nintendo, so mission accomplished Mr. Iwata!

I can't sum up what I think better than this. Nintendo are just so... I suppose that "friendly" is the way to put it, really.

Somehow it seems like it should be insidious, but it's nice and makes me want to give them more of my money!
