At the moment, Capcom isn't in such a dire situation, so I don't think Capcom should be their first "buy".
Capcom could be bankrupt in less than five years if they continue on their current pace. I think that is a pretty 'dire' situation.
For example, they recently bought Next Level. However, they made 2 Mario Sports games, and rebooted Punch Out and Luigi's Mansion to obtain their position.
Next Level Games is still independent. Them doing Nintendo-only titles from now on means that they're going full-on second party, not that they'll be under Nintendo's ownership.
they should buy Square and bring Final Fantasy home, it would also mean they get the Hitman, Legacy of Kain and Tomb Raider franchises just to name a few
"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"
"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!
Rare would be stupid at this point. Microsoft made it a pale shadow of it's former self, there's no talented people left there. What's the point in buying a name?
I like the idea of Koei-Tecmo, though I agree outside of Japan their historic battle games are niche. They were an early Wii U supporter and Hyrule Warriors and Samurai Warriors 3 show some close working happening. Mostly I just want to ensure Samurai Warriors 4 comes to Wii U!
Check it out. I made a list of franchises nintendo would gain if they acquired Sega and Capcom.
Megaman, Power stone, Breath of fire, Okami, Viewtiful joe, Bionic commando, Ace attorney, Monster hunter, Devil may cry, Resident evil, Lost planet, Dark stalkers, Street fighter, Rival schools, Onimusha, Final fight, Dino crisis, Ghosts n' Goblins, Dragon's Dogma, God Hand, Maximo, Shenmue, Star Tropics, Sonic, Virtua Fighter, Bayonetta, Virtual Cop, Fighting Vipers, Vanquish, Nights, Daytona, Alex Kid, Yakuza, Super Monkey Ball, Streets of Rage, Shining Force, Eternal Champions, Ecco the dolphin, Phantasy Star, Skies of Arcadia, Ristar, Space Channel 5, ChuChu Rocket, Jet Grind Radio, Crazy Taxi, Vectorman, Panzer Dragoon, Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Trauma Center, Mario, Yoshi, Zelda, Pokemon, Golden Sun, Fire Emblem, Earthbound, Kid Icarus, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Star Fox, F-zero, Metroid, Pikmin, Sin & Punishment, The Wonderful 101, Xenoblade, The Last Story.
I added in nintendo's own IPs as well. With a lineup like this, they wouldn't even need any other third party support.
The Nintendo haters would cry out in agony if Nintendo bought Capcom and Sega and it would be glorious. People would be forced to buy Nintendo consoles from that point on in order to play their favorite franchises. I still think Nintendo made a huge mistake when they didn't buy Atlus when they had the chance. That was a very dumb decision.. maybe they realized that was a mistake and are taking heed of that. I really hope they get their hands on some good IPs. They could bring back the Mega Man game that everyone wants and deserves.
Why does everyone think it would be great in Nintendo owned all those other IP's from Capcom and Sega? Nintendo already has a few dozen IPs from the 80's-90's that they don't touch, so why do people think it would be any different with those other ones?
If Nintendo isn't using Star Tropics, Star Fox, F Zero ect, they sure as hell won't revive Eternal Champions or Vectorman.
