Nintendo has just confirmed that the Wii U will indeed be getting a price drop active September 20. The Deluxe Bundle as well as the Wind Waker HD bundle will now be sold for $299. What do you guys think, does this improve the chances of the Wii U making a comeback this Holiday?
I think it's a smart move, since this makes the Wii U a lot more appealing than the PS4/Xbox One price point. This should draw in more parents who are looking to buy the system for their kids as a Christmas gift.

I foresee what you'll do there.

Nintendo has just risen from the clear 2nd place to the clear 2nd place now! Alright!
I'm gonna look like such a fanboy for saying this now, but I really thought a price cut was for the best. I get they don't want the consumer to always expect a price cut since that just means launches could always suck this bad regardless, but this was really for the best.

Wish the game was a pack-in, but those days are long gone. Knew it would be a download...
I really want to play it, and Wonderful 101, but I doubt I'll buy it. I probably won't pick up a WiiU, until either X, or Fire Emblem X MegaTen comes out.
Some UK stores cut the price way lower than that and it barely made a difference, though most of those where supermarkets I think so they didn't really sell a whole lot of consoles to begin with anyway, be interesting to see if this price cut across the board has any significant impact on sales now, I'm still sceptical especially looking at its library but it seems to have worked for vita in Japan at least.
We all knew this was coming, with the PS4 and Xbone coming out. Kinda is the 3ds-vita thing again. Nintendo is feeling threatened they had to do something.

I can't help but think this is a bad move by Nintendo over all. Yeah it might get some sales this holiday season but look at the facts. The last two Nintendo consoles have had price drops not even a full year after release. Whats going to happen in the long term is people aren't going to be buying Nintendo systems at launch anymore. Yeah you will get fanboys, but I am sure that even fanboys will wait now. I know if Nintendo does bring out another console I wont be buying it on launch day.

I think it depends on how things go next gen. The Wii U 2 year gun jump was already pretty surprising, so now we're going for a 5+ year gun jump?
The next gen will most likely be completely different, so I'm calling it right now that you're jumping the gun pretty far in advance.
I know you've had the console since pretty early. What's $50 in 10 months? They're just selling it for $50 less to make a quick buck, now, not 10 months ago.
EDIT: If you do the math, it's costed you $5 more every month this far. That's one cup of StarBucks coffee gone from your usual routine once a month, or deciding to eat at home instead of FatDonald's that one day...

This is a good thing though.
This pricedrop wasn't Nintendo's "choice", it was the consumers. Nintendo were forced to cut it due to consumers lacking to see the value of the product. If it had been Nintendo choosing to cut it, your scenario might be more relevant since people would learn to expect the company to work like that. It's not though.

But wait isn't Nintendo who are suppose to explain the value of their product so the consumer isn't lacking to see the value?
@SCAR392: Dont get me wrong I am not upset about the price drop and I dont regret buying it on launch day, heck if I didn't I couldn't partake in the 30 cent VC sale or the launch of Earthbound on the VC but I just think this is a bad move by Nintendo.

Supposed to, yes. But they've obviously failed hard on that one. Both their messaging and advertisement have been awful. Now they don't have any other choice than to cut the price to try to match what consumer might feel the product is worth.
