Topic: Nintendo banned my Mii and blocked my Phone Number

Not that this couldn't have been predicted, but I lol'ed at how much everyone is overreacting in this thread. Being a member for 7 years I'd assume you'd just get a warning and a chance to change your name - but those people you called sound about as judgemental as the people in this thread, assuming they actually reacted that way.

Or correct like the normal thinking members of this thread.

Well, obviously OP is not telling us something. He's blatantly lied to everyone in this thread multiple times already, so do you really think that's what happened?

No, of course he didn't call customer service and get yelled at for inquiring about the issue. That's ridiculous. Most likely he called and trolled the supervisor repeatedly, thus the response to "never call back."

Hell, I'm doubtful that the guy was even banned in the first place. Clearly, he just thinks the name WiiDSmoker is incredibly clever and wanted to tell us all about it.

Get a load of the church like people in this thread lol, anyways the fact that the call center person yelled says alot about nintendos customer service employee and manager im assuming? then it does about the customer itself, its not like he was being rude about it.

offensive? i dont see the insult in the name it self so overeaction on thier part. inappropriate? considering what nintendo is trying to maintain imagewise and the blacklash of potiental angry parents over ingorance or what have you. yeah might make sense.

however the refusal to change name is bad image on nintendo's part best way to do that is spread your story dude thats how you deal damage if you want too that badly.

What a load of crap. Now I'm definitely not one of the people on the "church" side of this argument so when I say that I'm saying it in defense of "the cause". I am however also on the science side of the "debate" so I'd rather people call things for what they are. A drug is a substance that alters the functioning of your body in some way so anything that does that is a drug. Plenty of drugs are "natural" and being "natural" doesn't make them any less potent. For example Aspirin is a naturally occurring drug and when first isolated was sold alongside morphine and heroin which were derived from it. I don't think it would be a good idea to consume any of those in excess....

Just because something is natural or has a long history doesn't mean it's automatically good or not a drug.

When it's a family friendly gaming service, it's best not to reference drugs in your name lol. Did Nintendo overreact in banning your name? No. Did the customer service guy overreact in refusing to answer your calls? Yes.

I have a hard time knowing how serious or truthful people are being. Certainly a possibility that some are just looking for attention, but the whole story is funny regardless.

It's funny how people just don't have that social filter anymore. You know, the one that says: "is this appropriate for the social situation?" and then makes smart decisions based on the projected answer to that question.

again @ the few people saying it's not a big deal to put that in your username. Consider this:

you can argue all you want whether or not it should be a big deal but there's no denying the fact that it is.

i dunno.. i have this nagging feeling OP did not tell the whole story about those phonecalls. Something must have escalated the situation, did he call names or swear at them? we don't know but i have a very hard time believing that Nintendo Customer Support would block his calls for no good reason. I have dealt with them on a number of occasions and they have always been most helpful and friendly to me.

Without a doubt,as it's not very likely that he would get the reaction he says he received if he was being polite and calm with them in the first place.

I'm a reasonable person, almost naive even, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but even I have a hard time swallowing this one. Whether or not the OP saw the drug reference in his name (he did), when Nintendo (understandably) blocked his name and he called them, either a) they didn't yell at all and he interpreted it as yelling (or lied about it), or b) he escalated the conversation and is conveniently leaving that part out. It's already proven there's little chance he is telling us the whole truth about his username, so the rest of his argument can no longer be taken at face value. But at least I get to start the day with a nice laugh!

Same with me, but sometimes even some of the best companies can have a crappy service rep. I'm solely going off of the information he's given, and if what he says is accurate, then my statement stands. It's highly unlikely we got the full story though.

Here's the whole story.

I've been playing wind Waker all day posting pictures and Yeah! A ton of other cool photos. I leave for dinner and come back and I see I have a message. Come to find out it's from the miiverse admin that says my name is inappropriate. Well my Mii and Nintendo ID are both WiiDSmoker. Once this occurred my username is now all *s.

So I call customer support and it goes to some manager named Neina (I think). She says hello and literally starts yelling at me about my username. Saying it's offensive and inappropriate for kids. Then she says this conversation is over and hangs up the phone. I'm completely bum founded and call back. It goes back to her again. She yells again and says to never call back. So I call back and it goes to some manager named Derek. He keeps saying my username is a drug reference and inappropriate. I ask what part of my name is a drug. He tells me that he has instructed to let all CS reps to hang up on me immediately is I call. He also said I will probably lose my Nintendo network ID. Which has Zelda and a few other upgraded VC titles

So this means I could lose all that I paid for and now my number is blocked from calling them and even if I call from another line, when I give them my name and email they will hang up.

So I'm stuck here with the potential of losing my ID, games, and unable to talk to anyone at all.

For those whom ask, I'm 29 and very professional wth my job and how I treat other, especially anyone in customer support. I did not yell, cuss, or say anything offensive, etc
