I wouldn't be surprised if other developers do this (that is "fix" a game and then rerelease it) if it's successful.

Looking forward to giving this a look Loved the Ninja Gaiden series for the challenge, smooth controls and graphics. However some time ago tried the demo of the ninja Gaiden 3 and was not impressed, the wii u version though is looking to be dramatically overhauled, and looks set to be a very solid game

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge Wii U Exclusives Finalized; New ...

We were not previously aware of additional playable characters, enemies health restoring, or the character-progression system previously so consider those new announcements.

  • Ayane as a playable character: In previous versions of the game, Ayane appeared only briefly in one cut scene. Now players can help her progress through her own exclusive chapters using a special set of weapons and Ninpo attacks.
  • Character-progression system: Using Karma points earned during game play, players can upgrade weapons and Ninpo, learn new moves, increase their HP level and unlock new character costumes.
  • Ryu and Ayane playable in co-op mode: For the first time, players can use Ryu or Ayane to represent themselves in the game's online co-op mode.
  • Test of Valor battle areas: Each chapter includes a hidden battle area called Test of Valor. Upon finding hidden Crystal Skulls, players will be transported to these areas to face down waves of enemies and classic NINJA GAIDEN boss characters with new moves.
  • Wii U GamePad Functionality: Using the Wii U GamePad, players can easily change weapons or Ninpo attacks, and also quickly reference the button inputs required for various combo attacks without ever stopping the action.
  • Additional Playable Characters: After the launch of the game, additional playable characters will become available as free downloadable content. More information about these characters will be revealed at a later time.
  • More Tenacious Enemies: The Wii U version of the game restores enemies' ability to fight when severely wounded, requiring players to stay nimble with their battle strategies.

Maybe Samus will be one of those downloadable playable characters? I doubt it but Team Ninja did work on Other M.

I like what they are doing with the Test of Valor battle areas (from what little I know). It gives you more incentive to find those hidden skulls other than just the same old search out the hidden items routine. I wonder what will happen after you win or lose though. It will be neat to see classic bosses. They should bring back Jaquio and Bloody Malth from NES Ninja Gaiden.

Dang, my issue now is that I don't know whether to get this or Zombi U at launch.

Ninja Gaiden games go cheap pretty quickly, for better or for worse...Dunno if it'll be different with Nintendo distributing it, though.

^^^ That is what I was totally thinking too. If Nintendo wasn't publishing this I would definitely wait for the inevitable price drop.

I still have 2 unbeaten Ninja Gaiden games, I don't really need a 3rd. And it'd get in the way of being one of the 5 people to buy Tank Tank Tank.

But again, props to Team Ninja for putting so much more effort in this port than anyone could have predicted.

Looks like it could be one of the best games to be released around launch.

Nice read. I was already interested now after this news even more so. I will have a tough decision to make at launch; NG 3: Razor's Edge or Zombi U?

Since zombi U is local multiplayer only (again) even though the cancelled killer freaks from outer space did have online (wich became zombi u) I'd say go for razors edge at least it HAS online!

I've been wondering what launch title besides NSMBU I would get now seeing TTT2 is 16GB (assuming NL is right since MK7 was apparently half a GB not the full GB they said) ill probably go for this and as my first M rated DL

Well considering the game is set for a January release in Europe I shall be getting it unless impressions are really bad for the NA version.

Just picked up Ninja Gaiden Sigma for PS3. So far it's great! Even more excited for this now.

@Xilef: Good to hear that. :I played Ninja Gaiden when it originally came out for the Xbox but I am tempted to get Sigma for my PS3 because it has been so long since I played it and I enjoyed Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. It will be interesting to see if you still like it as you progress and it gets more difficult.

It wouldn't surprise me either. It must be pretty amazing for developers to live in a time where they're able to recognize and react so quickly to fan feedback.

Some reviews are atarting to show up. http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii-u/ninja-gaiden-3-razors-edge A bit mixed. I personally put more wight on IGN's revews since i often agree with them, so chanses are i'll still pick it up. Gonna wait for some more reviews though.

Edit: Actually watched IGN's review now. Actually looks really, really fun. Unless absolotely every review says it's bad i'll buy it.

Yeah, I read the review on IGN, a little disappointing to hear that the visuals have some issues. Also I was not planing on buying a Classic Controller Pro and this comment was interesting: "Speaking of controllers, Razor’s Edge might seem like a $60 game, but you should really budget another $50 on top of that, as a Pro Controller is practically (but not technically) required here."
