Given that Mario Party 10 comes out on Friday, I have a feeling if we get a Wii U update on Monday it'll have some kind of amiibo save data management thing as that would promote the game further.

There already is, look in the System Settings.
Pretty sure it doesn't allow you to store your Smash amiibo data so you can use your amiibo for Mario Party 10?
