Just wondering what has happened to the supposed next major Wii U console update? I know it got delayed, but, how much longer will it be before we're likely to see it, anyone know?
Also has there been any news/rumours as to what may be included in this long awaited update? I certainly hope it's worth the wait.
Hope it comes around November. It's wishful thinking at this point, but if we could get our NNID's linked between the Wii U and 3DS, digital games linked to accounts, the ability to use an account on different consoles and cross game voice chat, I'll be happy.
Oh, and TVii in Europe would be much appreciated.

Wii U owners in London, please check it out!

You're not missing much. I've used TVii exactly once.
The only thing Nintendo has mentioned so far is faster opening app times (like the faster closing times we got in the last major update) and that it's coming late September/early October.

Can't say I'm expecting much. We keep expecting Nintendo to modernize and jump ahead a few years but they keep evolving at the same pace despite being 3-5 years behind.
Spotpass in standby(dlc, updates, etc. while in off mode)
My prediction, but not expectant of, is:
NNID/FC link between 3DS and Wii U, which includes Miiverse and shared eShop
better friend list features like group chat, better messaging through Miiverse
That's basically all they need to do. They've already confirmed faster load times of some sort, and other features that are "ahead" can be handled pretty easily via Miiverse ala Mario Kart TV for in-game videos or in-game pic sharing.
It's beyond me why people think Wii U can't do these things. The programming is where it's at, not hardware limitations.
EDIT: They're basically aiming to get most, if not all the same features that Xbox One and PS4 are, while still trying to make it free.
Once Wii U has a better implemented in-game video/pic sharing option, and better communication, it will pretty much be the same while still being free.
If it gets even faster, that would be great. Since we're all wishing for stuff here, I'll make one. Playing Wii games on your Gamepad. Probably impossible.
I thought we were going to see a virtual console update with perhaps the N64 getting support,I would like the gamecube as well but I think that's asking too much.

I disagree. I think it's wicked fun, actually. I use it for NFL games and when Survivor or The Amazing Race are in-season. It takes just a few seconds to set up, and it doesn't intrude on your watching experience at all. It's just fun to take a peek at the gamepad every now and then and see what some other people out there think about what just happened on screen. I'm not one for these social networking experiences, but heck, I've even posted a few times! It's fun!
