Hi just bought a wii u, got a few questions, thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

1. I have some virtual console downloads on my old wii, i would like to transfer them to the wii u, is this possible and how? Also are any funds on the old account transferrable?

2. Are all old wii games and controllers able to be used on the wii u?

3. What happens to the saved files from my wii games? Are these automatically transfered over, or if not how do i do it if possible?

4. Does NBA 2k13 have online?

About 4, I would say most likely yes. Haven't got the game, but an Nintendo Network logotype on the boxart is a good indicator of it.

PS: Here's the Nintendolife review of the game. https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/wiiu/nba_2k13
Online seems to be confirmed, but be warned that at the time of the review there were many problems with the servers, apparently.

1. Yes games that are on your Wii VC are transferable to the Wii U however funds are not. So in other words might want to spend the funds before transferring them it over.

2. Yes all Wii controllers can work on the Wii U. The only controllers that wont work on the Wii U that worked on the Wii are Gamecube controllers.

3. Yes your save files are transferred over when you do the transfer.

4. Not sure since I never played that game.

Also you might find this article helpful since it has a video on how to transfer your stuff.

Yes. Wii mode uses the same internet connections that you set up with Wii U settings.

One more question, thanks for all the help so far.

What are the differences between wii classic control pro and wii u control pro?

I was never a big fan of the wii pad, whats everyones experiences with the new wii u one like? good pad? worth picking up? not much difference

Wii U Pro can only be used on Wii U games. Wii Classic controller can be used on both Wii and Wii U games deemed compatible. Wii U Pro is a stand-alone controller with an autonomy of about 80 hours of battery! Wii Classic controller is an add-on to the Wii Remote. Wii U Pro has rumble, Wii Classic does not.
If you already have Wii remotes and classic controllers, you probably won't need Wii U Pro for playing anything on Wii U, but I certainly recommend it as the best controller you can buy.

Well for one the Wii U Pro Controller doesn't need to be plugged into a Wiimote like the Wii Classic Control Pro. Also the Wii U CP is shaped more like an Xbox 360 controller where as the Wii CCP feels more like a combination of a PS and SNES controller. Other then that not really that much different.

The Wii U pro Controller actually feels comfortable and more like a real controller. For some reason the Wii Classic controllers always felt like crappy pieces of plastic to me.
Also, only Wii U pro controllers will work with Wii U games. Wii classic controllers will still work on Wii games, though.
And the Wii U gamepad comes with the system. Many features of the Wii U are unusable without it. I love it and think it's great.

Just one thing about your initial questions. Yes the balance from your Wii does transfer over to your Wii U. However it transfers if over to the sandboxed Wii Shop within the Wii U not to the Wii U eShop. Personally if I had a lot of credit left on my Wii account (I only had ~200points) I'd go on a VC shopping spree. Find as many games as I could that were on the Wii U eShop that I wanted and download them on the Wii VC. Then upgrade them for proper Wii U usage with the $1.50AU upgrade fee.

Pro Controllers vs CC Pro? Both work about the same all things considered but the new one is significantly better. For Smash Bros and Mario Kart the new one will be basically required IMO. Well not "required" but demanded by various participants when you setup a match
