How do you see the total numbers of online players? I only see the number of people in my assigned group.

That's your VR score. It's utilized to match you against players with similar scores.

My suggestion get Smash Bros. That's where all the online action is now.

i suggested getting Smash Bros Wii U, Super Mario 3D World, Lego City Undercover
if you want something that been out a few days ago... maybe Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
as for something exciting and worth waiting for months i say Splatoon, Runbow, and Yoshi's Wooly World
but you decided what you should get as it your console.

My Top 9 Favorite Games of All time.
1. Judgement
2. Baldur's Gate 3
3. Bully (Rockstar)
4. Person 4 / Golden
5. Sonic Adventure 2
6. Xenoblade X
7. Ape Escape 2
8. Animal Crossing: New Leaf
9. James Bond 007 Nightfire

I think if you bought a Wii U thinking it would carry all major third party titles, you've made a mistake. I suspect that unless disaster befalls XBOX and PS4, you won't see them return to the Wii U no matter how many units Nintendo sells just because they cannot be bothered porting their stuff when they perceive a primarily Nintendo fanbase interested mainly in Nintendo games owns it (which is a fair point of view). If you bought it to enjoy Nintendo games and a nice selection of titles from smaller developers like me and many others then I think you'll be happy. if there were no new releases as of tomorrow I would still enjoy my Wii U and explore more of the available library in the eShop.

If anything Nintendo is going to have a hard time convincing me to buy their next console, I'm just so satisfied with this one!

Though I do love my Wii U with the crisp HD graphics on Nintendo exclusive games, it just can't beat my shiny New 3DS Ambassador... That piece of equipment is like the holy grail for me - plus MH4U has got me hooked xD

No problem with the MK8 online action, at least for me (running online Regional-PAL/40 DLC courses).

Probably not. I think you bought the wrong console if those are the types of games you are looking for.

Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

I agree. Mario Kart 8's online works beautifully. I've never gotten any lag EVER, and there are always tons of people playing.

You can't expect Mario Kart to still be swarming with players. It's almost a year old.

Not dying- Nintendo has said that they are supporting it for the life cycle of the system (5-6 years. We are in year two and almost a half). We can expect about a game per month of retail releases. It looks like there's a pretty nice batch of Indie games too coming out. Keep in mind also, that Zelda and Xenoblade will have a TON of content. In sum, there will be plenty for you to do, it's just that you won't be playing the multi-platform titles for the most part.

It still has players most of them though are the elitists. I do however expect more casual players to come back when the new DLC comes out in a few months.

This. Also, MK8 is SO adictive. You should get Smash Bros. too OP, there's a lot of people playing it

Check out my super awesome Super Mario Maker levels.

I think all ranges of players are still covered very well. In our family we compete on different levels (approx 1500, 3000, 9000 in terms of ranking score) and there are generally no problems finding players in our own ranges when playing (regional) online.

The only thing about this thread is that the OP seemingly confuses the ranking score with number of players.

I might have to give it a try again then. I tried it a few months ago and couldn't find anyone really but then again it was when Smash Bros just came out.
