Topic: New Wii U Gamepad

I found this recent Japanese Mario Kart 8 trailer via GoNintendo and the Wii U Gamepad shown is much slimmer. Do you think Nintendo's finally going to sell Gamepads separately or is this possibly the reveal of a "New" Wii U like how the "New" 3DS exists?

Like a comment on the GoNintendo article said: ''I'm pretty sure the Gamepad only looks smaller because whoever simulated the Gamepad's display on the controller wasn't paying enough attention to detail and accidentally made the display oversized, because otherwise, it looks like the Gamepad I was just playing with an hour ago.''

That ad is based off of a UK/US ad, but with the different GamePad. I hope it means there's a new WiFi GamePad (so I can play MK8 wherever)

Rewatched this a few times, looks indeed like a screw up on behalf of the guy who edited the trailer, as the screen overlaps the Y button and part of the d-pad.

To me it doesn't look like it overlaps anything, it does seem like a mistake though ;_;

It looks promising but it does look smaller and a little bit thinner.

Nah, I hope the Wii U isn't getting another model. Just stick to making exclusives and improvements via updates.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

It's an error. Notice how the analog stick seems to stick out (no pun intended) on the right side, which btw is far too narrow for any buttons or sticks.

The Wii U Gampad is fine as it is in my opinion. It's not heavy, just massive!

I think it could use a revision with an ethernet port and more storage, maybe Blu-ray playback and optical audio, but no 'New Wii U' BS.

It looks like an editing error. If it was a new model GamePad then it'd be a poor design as the d-pad would be really uncomfortable to use. By the video it'd have to be directly under the left stick, which moves my thumb into an awkward feeling position.

If you notice, all the controllers aren’t blurred out up close but the Wii U gamepad is… something tells me Nintendo Direct: Christmas Edition, could be the reveal of the brand new Wii U gamepad.

Something tells me it's not a real Gamepad, but a mockup used for the commercial. In the top-right corner of the Gamepad under that mode with the horn, there is supposed to be the output of the TV (meaning all 4 players are shown as the TV does), and just comparing the coloring, even with the depth-of-field distortion, it doesn't match up because it's all dark, and not colored a little lighter in the section that represent Player 2 and 3 as the TV does.

Then again, this is a commercial after all, and is designed with exaggeration and not as if you're doing a home video, so I guess its still possible. I mean, if I was at that distance away from the sytem, I think the signal would not be of good quality.

It’s entirely possible they’re revamping the system so that it’s not just the new games being put out next year that sell the console…..it’s so that the console can simply sell itself. I mean there are enough people out there who originally had the regular 3DS, then upgraded when the 3DS XL came out, that people will definitely upgrade to a newer Wii U, thus more sales. It would be a fairly good move on Nintendo’s part….Especially if they lowered the price of the original Wii U as a result. I know for a fact that the tablet size and the price of the console have been pretty big cons for a lot of people I know who are on the fence with the Wii U…..so this could be a definite game changer if nintendo decided to take this route….this could be Nintendo’s Wii U Slim

I'm very sure I've seen this exact commercial several months earlier... so I don't think a new GamePad is coming soon..
Well, the video is what I've seen before....

I could see it happening. One of the big complaints of the gamepad is that its too big. Im sure if they wanted to, they could shrink it down without decreasing the screen size. Havent opened up the controller to actually see if its possible...but more than likely it is.

Also, I really wish NOA would have made the white premium edition available. Looks so much nicer than the black one.

Pause at 0:05, it's exactly the same. It's just a poor job at editing.

It looks like a fake gamepad designed specifically for use in commercials as the real gamepad screen is perhaps a little too small to catch one's attention like the one in the commercial does.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

The GamePad itself is the same, the screen image that is edited over the GamePad is just too big.
