Hi everyone

Last summer there was some talk about a title called "Star Wave Race: Evolution" but nothing has been mentioned about it since. Has anybody heard anything about a possible new Wave Race game?

I just figure after sales falling flat on the Blue Storm that Nintendo decided to ditch the franchise along with 1080. Just wish we could see new entries in both franchises.

Battle.net - Dayman
Steam - RancidVomit86
PSN - RancidVomit86

The n64 Wave Race is such a good game, I would've bought it and Blue Storm as is if they just added motion controls.

You know why the sequels didn't sell as well........or why they aren't as highly regarded.......

Wave Race 64 = Nintendo EAD
Wave Race: Blue Storm = NST

1080 Snowboarding = Nintendo EAD
1080 Avalanche = NST

Not very familiar with wave race, but I think if a third one comes out it will be done by Monster Games, the team behind Pilotwings Resort and DKCR 3D.

I have Wave Race 64 and Wave Race: Blue Storm and....yeah - WR64 is better! Although the wave effects, IIRC, seemed the same in both games, I preferred WR64. With that said, a third game in the series would be welcome in my opinion.

Might sound lame…….

But anybody remember the opening piano music for the “Drake Lake” course on WV64?, with the female announcer (welcome to, Drake Lake)…………that could put me too sleep every time (in a good way).

WV64 has a criminally underrated OST.

How 'bout Wave Race-Bots?!

You race in transforming boats--nailing stunts/tricks, performing tree/island and buoy runs, diving, smashing other boats, and racing to collect stars (or not, I'm undecided on this one... Maybe have separate modes?) like in Excite Truck/Bots. On land (like islands, icebergs, and what not), the boats transform into bipedal mechs, allowing you to dash and kick your rivals and other obstacles. In the air you can pull off stunts to increase your boost and glide to ambush others and find shortcuts (similar to the crazy-awesome physics in the other two games). Landing at a level angle on waves/ground gives you a turbo boost as well, like always. Toss in the ability to dive--to find shortcuts and torpedo underneath other boats (maybe engaging dolphin/sub mode to give small boost with restricted steering--think wheelies in MKWii).

What else? Well, what else would you need?! A comprehensive stunt mode is a must. Leaderboards and ghosts, well. (One of the best parts of WR64, no doubt... SO much time spent perfecting those runs as a kid. SO much pride stomping my much older step-brother and his friends' high scores. ). Time trials, too. And why not give us an updated--online multiplayer--crash mode (from Excite Trucks)? Just because.

Course we do. Great stuff. I could fill a few CDs with perfect lullaby (again, in a good way) tunes from the N64 era. Makes me so happy. Blue Storm, for all its faults, had some pretty sublime songs as well.

I think the only developer outside of Nintendo EAD that I would trust in making a truly solid Wii U Wave Race (or F-Zero) would be Sumo Digital (responsible for developing SEGA’s Outrun 2 series and the Sonic / Sega All-Star racing series)

They know how to bring back that spirit of innovative course design / simple racing fun from the 90’s arcade racers.

Yes, farm out Wave Race, and Diddy Kong Racing to Sumo Digital.

I would love a new entry in this series but rather have it on my 3ds moreso then Wii U. Just imagine how great it would lookl with full on 3d!

I dunno. If they couldn't get it to sell in the era of SSX and Tony Hawk, it would do NOTHING nowadays.

eshop brah, alot of Nintendo's IP lends itsself to digital content where it doesn't have massive sell expectations.

Never played a Wave Race game, but if it's anything like Hydro Thunder I'll love it.

I'll be perfectly honest, I loved both 1080 avalanche and Blue Storm. I honestly had no problem with either of them. I can also safely say that I find Avalanche far superior to the original, so much more stuff to do and the mutliplayer is one of the best multiplayer experiences I have had. As for blue storm I don't really have many memories of it since I bought it at the end of its life time, but for what its worth it was fun. I'm honestly in favor for both these games making a come back.

Let us also not forget the awesome soundtrack:
