Sounds really fun! I love the idea that it borrows gameplay elements from mobile games like subway sufer as their controls are addictive it'll be interesting to see how it works out as most 'metroidvania' games on mobile platforms got digital buttons SUCH EXCITE will this be coming to 3DS as well?
Looks like an android game and by all accounts from you Mr Developer, it will play like one with the controls and visually as others have said, lacking. Not the kind of thing that the Wii U needs right now. That said, if you can improve on things considerably then I'd certainly be willing to reconsider.
As for those that have asked to turn down the gore... GROW UP. Comparing Mortal Kombat to a few red blood splats is a joke in itself. If you want a reason to not show an interesting in a game or not play it, at least make it one that doesn't make you sound like, quoting Skyrim, a milk drinker.
without any stretch goals 36500:- , and that includes taxes, hardware and sending out stuff to people that donates. Most of the money goes to being able to pay bills, food and my daughters school for 20months while making the game.

This will most likely not come to the 3DS, I only have a devkit to make games for Wii U. but I will talk to Nintendo about it and see if it can be done
Thank you all for the feedback. Here is the first mini update: The first boss of the game Comoth and another boss http://tommystudier.webs.com/bosses1.png .
More to come

I think he meant for the customer, on the eshop
ohh ok, lol, well most likely $10 like most other e-shop games
Well regardless of a 3DS port or not I'm liking the idea a lot :3 this will definitely be one of the first Eshop games I get once I get my hands on a Wii U and is that boss screenshot more recent? Looks more detailed then the rest of the screenshots

Yes they are more recent, and everything you see will be more detailed in the final version What you seen so far is just a very early demo.
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s an update on the game
As I probably stated earlier is there still a couple of important game mechanics that I haven’t mentioned yet. So let’s take a look at one of the:
First of all, this game concept is kind of like Battle Kid in the regard that it’s a metroidvania game with each screen being its own unique challenge, and yes I did get some inspiration from that game.
So it’s not like Mario where you run and run and the camera follow you through the entire stage, no. Instead the is game divided in to short segments.
Now to the interesting part Since this is a metroidvania game you are of course going to find new weapons and items. But instead of you going to a start menu and choose what weapon or item you want to use will the game automatically do it for you. What the hero carries in his hand when he enters a screen is what that segment is going to be based around.
That allows me to create segments that are completely built around the gimmick of a particular item or weapon. I am aiming for huge variety in gameplay. I also want to point out that if you enter a screen that is based around an item or weapon that you don’t have yet then the hero will just carry a sword.
It seems like you also created the flash game "One Button Vania", which also has a very similar design in the gameplay to what you describe and an almost identical main character. (The main character is also very similar the design in Shovel Knight, or vice versa.)
Regarding graphics, I'd suggest you work a bit on the use of colors and the color palettes. Right now it's very smartphone/Flash-centric, with a limited palette of clear colors, which feels wrong to me. For example: use limited amount of color within a screen, but with a big color depth (many shades of each color) within those colors.
I have to disagree that Subway Surf is addictive due to the control scheme. I think that's only a small part of it. At least as important to the addictive nature is that the run is without goal and the action start immediately.
seems cool wish you luck. what platforms are you planning on releaseing it for is it just going to be for wii u
Well, the game is being built for the Wii U with its unique hardware in mind, but it would probably be possible to port about 70% of the game to iOS/Android and PC. Some boss fights and levels will only be possible on the Wii U, and I dont want to limit the game in order to get it out on everything. I guess you could say that Wii U will get the Premium version, and maybe (just maybe) some other systems will get a as good as possible port of the game.
I just had to post this too Its blury cuz I took the picture on the screen while playing... But most importantly, you get what's going on here http://tommystudier.webs.com/stab.png
Keep posting, I'm watching but with that last picture I'm starting to think the blood is out of place. Doesn't go well with the graphic style. Its one thing if you're going for realism but the graphics at times are too cartoony.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.

I dont wanna do the same thing as everyone else, I really like mixing colorful, cute with brutal and gorey This is gonna be a game like no other But thanks for your feedback.
I'm not trying to be rude or juvenile or anything like that but....
With Shovel Knight and its butt mode, the name of this game seems... Unfortunately awkward. I simply can't unsee it and I feel terrible about it, sorry.
