I would much rather have other Mario characters like Wario and Waluigi than miis and I think player 1 should have the option to choose which character to play as and not always have to be Mario. Also, I know this was just a tech demo so Mario's first wii U 2D platfomer might not be like this but theres a chance that it might be and I would rather Nintendo were more innocative with the next 2D Mario platformer. For example, I think they should be more imaginative with the worlds and not just have the all the same themes but in a slightly different order like they did with NSMBW but that was still an awesome game and one of the best 2D Mario platformers as it had some of the best level design I've seen in a 2D Mario platformer.
Some things i'd like to see if they were to make this game would be bring back the poison mushrooms from from Lost Levels, definitely have the ice Flower in the same fasion it already is, and also bring in the mushrooms from Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 that enhanced mario's clothes and powers (the cloud flower, too), though I'm not too sure about the others that transformed him.....possibly.

For that to happen, Nintendo has to give Sakurai a bigger team. It's so weird how they never give him a big team he needs to get everything done efficiently considering they make games for the most part from scratch and only use mechanics and tweak 'em from previous installments.

I kinda hope nintendo doesn't release NSMBM cause they'd be REALLY phoning that one in. Unless it had brand new worlds and not just the "You can play as your mii!" gimmick.

Are you sure you're in the right thread? Did you mean to post in one of the SSB4 threads? Sakurai works on those but Miyamoto works on these games.

YES! The stage builder in the Mario vs DK games is pretty fun and robust. I can only imagine what devious levels I could create with an official NSMB stage builder...

That "pausing" is there is based on the classic 2D games when you get an item. It would be kinda weird for it be taken out.
Super Mario World removed the pause, and it played just fine.

No, he is talking about the pause that happens when you get an item. It was present in Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3, but it's gone in Super Mario World.
....Um, yeah I can remember the pausing clearly in SMW... Anyways I wish they'd just give us a stage builder instead of another "New" game. DS was fun, Wii version brought back memories of old 2D games...but another, ugh...
