Hello,

I've bought a deluxe Wii U on launch and everything seemed fine, I updated the console, played Nintendo Land for quite a while with a few friends and even tried the NSMBU mini-games which worked flawlessly. The thing is, when I tried the story mode my game crashes while the intro cutscene is being played. When Mario & Cª are being tossed through the air the system freezes and I have to unplug it to be able to turn it on again.

I had similar problems yesterday with Nintendo Land but I've been reading quite a while about that so I know I wasn't alone, but this problem I haven't read about. I went to the store and traded the game for a new one but the problem is still there. I find it hard to be a hardware problem when everything runs fine, even the game itself if I don't go to the story mode. Have you guys heard of similar problems? I guess I'll have to take the console to the store, but this intrigued me. Maybe a faulty line of these games?

Well, guess luck wasn't on my side. xD

Mario U froze on me twice the first day I played it, in story mode, at seemingly random times through the first 2 worlds. When it started happening in Nintendo Land as well I deleted my internet connection completely thinking maybe Miiverse was the issue.

I've since played both Mario and Nintendo Land for the past 2 weeks for several hours with zero problems. Give it a shot. Its a bandaid until Nintendo releases a fix...

OR try deleting the update that Mario U downloaded when you first ran the game, reboot the wii u and reinstall the Mario U update. Perhaps something went wrong during the install....

Hi to all, i'm interested to this problem too, to know if there is a solution before i buy my wii u.
Did some of you tested the console and games before internet update and/or without internet connection?

The console definetly runs better without Internet apps set up. If an occasional crash will bother you it may be best to hold off enabling Miiverse, Nintendo Network, and co until Nintendo release a patch.
@OverturePT ... Yours sounds like an inherent problem with the system though?

Nintendo Land always crashes when I try to play it. Sonic and All-Stars froze once when I tried that horrid Boost Challenge(when's that dang patch coming out, Sumo!?) and NSMBU never froze once, and I beat the whole game! It did freeze this one time when I was actually stupid enough to turn off the system in mid-gameplay, never doing that again! So hopefully we will get this patch to stop it all together soon.

Try disconnecting from your Wi-Fi, or changing your Miiverse settings to "English only".

Good luck.

I have this exact same problem, only it's just with New Super Mario Bros. U. I can play Nintendo Land, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, and Assassin's Creed 3 with no problems, but Mario ALWAYS crashes at that exact same place when Boswer's AirShip throws Mario & Co flying though the air, and I've attempted this with two separate copies of the game. I've tried deleting the update but it just re-installs and I can't see any way of stopping the download, I've tried removing it and disconnecting from the Internet, but it just goes into a fit about me needing to connect online (which IMO shouldn't be forced anyway). I've been suggested to disable Miiverse, but I can't seen any way of doing that. I'm thinking about downloading the update and then backing out and disconnecting from the Internet as a way of doing it, see if maybe once I can at least get to the map and save I might be OK.

There is a general freezing glitch occuring with Wii U systems. Mine has twice, apparently there is a patch in the works but who knows.

I had the same problem with Mario and in the same place as the OP. The U went off and the power button was flashing and nothing would make it work again, not even turning the plug socket off. I finally ended up pulling the power supply out of the back of the U and that fixed it, and so far that hasn't happened again.

Have you tried limiting your Miiverse to English only?

Tried everything possible, nothing worked. Went to the store and traded the console for a new one, works flawlessly. It was a pain in the ass, but I guess I'll enjoy my Wii U now, couldn't enjoy it fully always thinking I had a faulty system. :D

Yes. Really don't wanna have to send it back, I bought it online so it'll take forever to get a replacement. :(

EDIT: Just had the same crash happen while attempting to play Assassin's Creed 3's story mode. Guess i'm gonna have to send it back :(
