Topic: New Super Mario Bros U gameinfromer october cover

I read on a different site that this has worlds/world maps that aren't entirely the exact same thing as the past 3 games.

If you excuse, me, i'm going to go and buy my first gameinformer magazine issue now...

Yerp. The worlds are Acorn Plains (grassland), Sparkling Waters (tropical), Frosted Glacier (ice), Layer Cake Desert (pastry desert), a world surrounded by a tornado (Bowser's Castle?), and a sky world and a world based off the Forest of Illusion. The only thing that's the "same" could be the sky world, but even then...

Oh, and its one large map and you can look everywhere at any time.

What other world themes could you possibly have? It's pretty hard to find a game with defined world/area themes that aren't one of fire, ice, water, forest, desert, sky and tech. And when games do have different themes it's usually part of some overall design choice. Like a game based on music might have metal and electronic and a game based on painting might have oil and pastel themed levels.

but this is a Mario game........ so why would it not use fire, ice, water, desert, sky etc?

This game sounds amazing

I love everything I hear about it (well, except maybe that the Koopa kids are back).

• Baby Yoshi's are back which is awesome!
• Normal Yoshi's returning!
• New type of 'Speed-Up' stages!
• Miiverse features!
• Big world map!
• New level themes!
• New Powerups!
• 5p multiplayer!
• The option to play as Mii's!
• HD visuals!

It all sound great to me. This might very well turn out to be my favorite of the NSMB games by far. I'm actually getting excited.

Yeah, a LOT of stuff are very similar to Super Mario World. I think it's just something they too inspiration from rather than a sequel though. But it's a good thing nonetheless, SMW is an amazing Mario game

They say since 16 years ago, so they mean Super Mario 64? Well this is the first time since that game that Mario has launched with a system.

I for one am really looking forward to the Giant World! It was my favorite in SMB 3.

Super Mario World is my favorite 2D Mario game, and I think it's largely due to the map design. I like being able to walk around and play any level I want, as opposed to the map system in Super Mario Bros. 3 where you have to play your way through the game to get where you want to. Know what I mean? I can't tell you how many times I've played through World 1 just to get where I really want to go.

I still hate Game Informer. Why do I have to pay for a digital subscription just to have my Gamestop rewards card? UGH.

Man this game is shaping up to be the best of the "NEW" series, especially since its taking after Super Mario World.

This is the most recent NSMBU thread, and I think some of these are from GI, so I'll post these pics here. Notice how polished and clean the character models and graphics are in the bigger pics. So smooth, and hardly a jagged edge to be seen! Also, a couple of enemies that make this seem like New Super Mario World _yay... I just get the feeling that all/some of this game is in Dinosaur Land! I am EXCITED about NSMBU!!!

You're welcome. I feel the same about Reznor, especially with all the SMW resemblance seen here in NSMBU. What I understand, Boom-Boom is going to be back as the mid-world tower boss. Should've been vice-versa since they were going for the SMB3 feel having the Raccoon suit. They need to stop mixing their SMB3 & SMW themes. Speaking of which, the Reznor boss music would've been better here too, but they'll have SMB3's here in U now, I imagine. Also, great pic! I had the Gradius announcer saying "SPEED UP" in my head, hee hee.

@FlutterShyGuy the meter thing is probably a measure of the fruits you need for a power up.
@NintyFan I keep feeling like Mario is turning into sonic... _{perhaps James is moving quicker than anticipated...}

The way I see it each NEW title is the modern version of the OLD
NSMB DS= SMB via just plan but fun
NSMBW=SMBUSA with the choosing Four characters
NSMB2=SMB3 with tail Mario
NSMBU=SMWSMB4 for world map, and many other stuff
