Ok so I went back all the way to December of last year and didn't see a thread for this game so I figured either

A) None was ever made which I find odd

B} It was so old that its ok to make a new one.

Anyway I have finally started playing this game I know I am late to the party, mostly thanks to the getting it free with MK8. So far I am enjoying it one thing that I am finding odd is either the levels are longer then previous Mario games or the timer has alot less time on it cause I often find myself barely able to finish the level within the time limits although I admit I do explore the levels alot.

Also anyone have any tips for the Ghost house in the ice world? I just can't seem to find my way through. I am pretty sure I am missing something but I am not sure where. Any advice?

Hey buddy!! I really enjoyed this game even if some aspects were a little lacking a great multiplayer experience and some of the levels were really really really fun and nice to look at. I'd have given this game a seven for solo play and an eight for multiplayer

I thought this was the high water mark so far of the New Super Mario Brothers franchise. Happily played it and its expansion pack to 100% completion for the main game mode (I didn't care for challenge mode).

Yeah I am really enjoying this game but I have always enjoyed 2D Mario games more, though I need to try 3D World but that's another thread. I tried multiplayer mode but unless I have people with the same skill level I just get annoyed. More often then not I need to slow my pace down for others to keep up otherwise they get frustrated. I honestly wish they had a split screen mode so that each person can go at their own pace.

But yeah I am enjoying it on solo play alot. Some things I need to get use to like the dang wall jump, cant even count anymore how many times I died cause I accidentally grabbed the side of the wall and leaped off to my surprise.

I also think it's fun. It does, admittedly, lack in creativity (I won't spoil it, but the final boss isn't exactly original), but, it was still enjoyable.

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

I'm with you on the wall jump I find that while multiplayer can slow down the pace of the best player it is still lots of fun when we play all of us together it can get very competitive trying to be the first to the finish!! I think a possible improvement for the next in the series would be to have more characters available from the start for multiplayer Wario, Waluigi, Peach, Daisy, Rosalina and of course Yoshi!! They would not need different abilities just a skin change so we could all pick ourfavourite characters

Ah. This game is pretty fun. I got it around the launch of the Wii U. I think I haven't finished all of the levels, yet. I was able to find a bunch of shortcuts, so I already beat the final boss, haha.
It's sometimes fun to play with friends. Well, except for that one friend that always prefers to toss you to your doom rather than help.

I got this game in a bundle but haven't played more than world one since it felt kind of dull but maybe that's just cause the week before I had played through the wii version and was burnt out

Yeah another problem I have with the multiplayer is the fact that its 2D and when 2D games have both players on the screen at the same time it just feels very crowed to me and hard to move about. I felt that way when playing the original DKC games on the SNES so its not just this game. Super Mario 3D World seems a bit better to me for multiplayer cause being 3D you all can spread out a bit and not be up each other's butts if that makes sense at all.

Ok so I finally got past the Ice World and even made it past Soda Jungle. I have to say Soda Jungle 1 brought a huge smile to my face.

One question I have about this game though is do the Big Star Coins do anything? Like in SM3DLand you needed them to enter the last castle (iirc) so I was wondering am I going to need them to enter the final castle or something else later on? The reason I ask is because on my first playthrough I just try to learn the layout of the levels I try to grab the coins if I can but if I can't I come back later through my next play through when I am a bit familiar with the level.

If the main game treats them like the Luigi game, then they're just for unlocking the special worlds after the main game.

AH ok. I just don't want to be like when I played SM3DL and not be able to progress through the main game without getting them. As I said stuff like that I like to get after my first playthrough.

Excellent game. I think the console NSMB games are the best ones in the series.

I can't imagine owning a Wii U and not owning this.

Excellent piece of software for Wii U. It's easily the best in the NSMB series. Call me weird, but IMO the game... seems NEW to me.

God first.

All I liked is the Challenges - And maybe one world worth of levels. (And about half of the special world levels).

NSLU is better difficulty but the levels are too short.

I want another DLC pack (long shot) with new characters (Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina etc) and more levels. 30 or 90, I don't mind!

I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]

I was a little disappointed in this game when i bought it with my Wii U back in April 2013. I've been absent from Nintendo for about two decades, at least as far as home consoles, so I was expecting something more like Super Mario 3d World.... Still, I put in about 15 hours on over the summer of last year, then started playing it again this summer and have had a lot of fun with it. Still a long way to go, but a good game. I actually rediscovered the game to a degree b/c I traded it in for MK8, then downloaded it.

After having finished Yoshi's Woolly World I decided to play this game again to gain inspiration for Super Mario Maker level design. I won't only be creating silly levels.

After I finish NSMB on the DS I think I might go back to this one.
