Topic: New Super Luigi U: Download or Buy?

I am just curious to see how many of you will download the game like DLC or wait and buy a tangible version as a disc. If you're like me, games are better when you can feel an actual copy with hands, being able to take the disc somewhere and say, "look what I own!" I just wonder how many will download the game, how many will buy the actual box and disc, or both.

Well here the disk will launch a month later at full RRP. If our DLC only suffers from the usual "Australia tax" on eShop titles and we end up paying ~$30AU for that then DLC seems like a significantly better option. If it's much more than $30AU I probably won't get it.

Physical for sure. I don't mind the extra pice and wait time. Besides, that green box is a must!

Does DLC counts toward DDP points?

Probably would go for DLC due to it being cheaper and more efficient.

Definitely DLC for me. The box art doesn't warrant the extra $10 for this man.

I probably would never play it if I had to strain myself getting off the couch, open a worthless green box then insert a disc... It's just too much effort so I will continue with downloads for the time being

I don't even have NSMBU so the retail version is pretty appealing to me right now. If they had a standalone version of NSLU though I would definitely get that for the deluxe promotion points!

I don't think I'll ever get NSMBU...NSMB and NSMBW was enough for me...I got NSMB2 for the 3DS but I got bored after I found the first cannon (which was like 5 minutes after playing)...it should be harder to find a cannon! Anyway, harder platformers like Super Meat Boy are more appealing to me now so hopefully NSLU can bring a challenge that'll make me want to break my TV!

Yeah, New SMB U was fairly easy although it's probably the best of the "New SMB" games so far. If you don't have it obviously retail is the best option for New Super Luigi U.....

That's assuming retail IS actually cheaper if you can combine it with a copy of NSMBU in a bargain bin.

Hmm... If I get it, it will be the download version. It's pretty much impossible to buy a game cheaper then retail on day one.
Bargain bins may be nice for some, but the way I buy games, that is never an option.
The green plastic, paper, and disc don't mean anything to me. I just want the game. $10 more is also a good reason to not buy it as a disc.

If this is in reference to my point maybe I need to clarify a bit. I was saying that retail is the better option if you don't have New SMB U but even then it might not be. Maybe not so much in the US (good luck finding a copy of New SMB U for $10US!) but here where the cost gap is closer to $30AU... you can maybe find a used copy for that much. Even if you can't for that extra little bit of money you can get both New SMB U and New Luigi U.

Of course if you pay the full RRP, which you might end up doing anyway given the tendency for first party games not to budge on price, then it doesn't make sense. At all. Get the retail copy if you don't own New SMB U.

I was tempted to save the $10 and get $2 back from the Digital Deluxe Promo, but I decided to go retail. The advantage is I was able to trade in my NSMBU that I won't need anymore for $40, and I can recoup money on NSLU if I decide to get rid of it too eventually. If the retail version is limited edition, it might keep its value so that I get most of my money back even.

Most likely the DLC version since its cheaper and comes out 2 months sooner, but now I am sort of considering the pyhsical copy to save space on my Wii U and just to own.

I'll see how each compares... I want this disc and green box...but it's more expensive...

I'm weighing my options.

I'll likely go digital.
But is there any way to buy the digital title as a standalone?

Retail, I can wait.

I'm waiting to see whether you need to NSMBU disk in the Wii U to play the DLC and if so how it intergrates into NSMBU.
