How about a Metroid game where you have ALL of your powers at the beginning, and then you LOSE them gradually as the game progresses?

The game would get harder on its own as you lost certain skills, and you would have to think of new ways to use your available abilities in order to traverse old environments. ...Huh...

What started as a joking idea kinda sounds like it could be sort of interesting now...

"You've acquired an Anti-Energy Tank for some reason, your health permanently drops." the item fanfare music plays like this is a good thing

Actually, that is a GREAT idea. Seriously. You could lose weapons, gadgets, health, energy tanks, missle tanks, etc. I think that would be a great twist and would add to the feeling of solitude and helplessness in the games.

Currently Playing:
Xbox 360: Arkham City, MW3, Gears 3, UMV3, Battlefield 3
PS3: inFAMOUS 2, LBP 2. Rachet & Clank: All 4 One, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3
Xperia Play: Crash Bandicoot
iOS: Sonic CD, Infinity Blade, Arkham City Lockdown, Mega Man X, Chrono Trigger

I like the helplessness idea, but losing your abilities means losing access to old areas instead gaining access to new ones, and fighting the final boss with nothing but a non-chargeable power beam. It might be cool if Samus had a few "corrupt" abilities that she needs to get rid of, and then they eventually get replaced with new abilities.

The GBA games have some "helpless" components, too. There could be something like the SA-X, showing up randomly and chasing Samus, or some stealth parts like Zero Mission's ending.

I think a firefight mode would be cool, and the motion blur would give the game a nice scifi feel. I would add a few things, 3rd person view, bigger and more open worlds, enemies that don't look like pokemon, and that's about it. What does R4ZED mean?

for wii u i want another Other M type game. While many people didn't like the story i loved it. It was engaging and i really felt like involved more than other metroid games. same map style but maybe a lock on system like in zelda games. Keep the same voice actors as they were good and it would add that feeling of a sequel even more. Also the way items were restricted made more sense to me than randomly finding a power up. In other games its like the building constructors were like, "oh lets put this important item here for samus to find, and then a big arena here for a large monster to go into when this place goes to hell." It makes more sense for her to have them, but have them restricted by her superior officer.

For the 3DS i want a 2D similar to fusion. I would prefer this because i don't think a 3D metroid game would feel right on a handheld. If they did though, make a Prime 4 and the gyroscope could be used as the scanner. Also circle pad pro support would be needed. If they go the prime route though i won't buy it. i hate the prime series. Doesn't feel right to me.

P.S. I know im kinda backward loving Other M and hating Prime series, but its just my opinion

As good as Other M was I think the next game of that type (2d.5) is going to be on 3DS. if we get another Console game its going to be either third or first person to show off the power of the Wii U.

I'd kind of like a Metroid game with the view and shooting perspective from the Uncharted series. It'd have to be for a console, and have nunchuk support. The music would have to be eerie but I'd also like to hear some recreated tunes from Super Metroid and other past games in it. The story would have to be new but as a basis I'd want something bad to happen (large room for creativity there, amirite?) causing you to end up in a desolate area and have to work yourself up until you're back to full strength. The area design would have to be top-notch (of couse) and there has to be some really creative ways to achieve most of the items.

That'd just be my dream Metroid game. I don't know about you guys, though.

I think the chances for a second Other M are extremely slim. A 2D Metroid isn't happening on Wii U, so it has to happen on 3DS.

i get what you mean about showing off the Wii U's power. and now that i am picturing it i think it could be very cool! i just hope they stick with the storytelling and voice acting. Also, a 2.5d on the 3ds would be neat. I guess i could handle that.

wii U metroid:
-follow up to metroid prime 3
-first person shooter and adventure game
-new abilities such as being able to kick, punch, throw, dodge enemies- not just shoot them
-using the touchscreen you can scan, target enemies, track where you are going by having a map
-have additional nunchuck, wii-remote and wii classic controller support
-make anthony higgs playable, make it 2- player
-bring back nightmare, dark samus, mother brain but not ridley, add new bosses

  • i'd get retro studios to develop it

3DS metroid:
-sequel to fusion
-2D side scrolling platformer
-more emphasis on exploration
-the galactic federation are still after samus, as well the SA-X

  • have either the nintendo software planning and development team develop it or wayforward, who made aliens infestation for the DS

ridley is a cool villain but samus has killed him so many times. yet he keeps coming back somehow. one would think samus wouldn't have to contend with him any more.

They need to have an entirely suitless Samus game that incorporates elements from the stealth and survival-horror genres along with classic Metroid principles. At least, that's what I would like to see. D:

Ridley supposedly has miraculous recovery capabilities, and usually there's a reason he comes back. Technically he's only "killed" in Super Metroid, and it's not the same Ridley in Other M and Fusion.

Got any proof of that? Right now, all we are talking about is speculation. I remember when no one thought Nintendo would bring back Donkey Kong Country, or make a new sidescrolling Mario game for home consoles, yet both of those happened on the Wii. Nintendo can be very unpredictable at times, so don't underestimate them.

But Other M didn't meet expectations. At all. If you check the NPD charts it only sold 500,000 in the first few months. The goal was 1 million. I can see a 2-D Metroid being on 3DS and some sort of an idea on Wii U, but an Other M 2 ? No way Jose.

Edit: I like PhoenixCake's idea, actually.

We do all know that Retro and Nintendo have said that Prime is over, right? No more sequels or follow-ups... it was a trilogy with a DS side-story and pinball spin-off.

wanting to show off the power of the WII U and rising HD dev costs pretty much stop it.

Unlike Mario or Kirby there's no way in hell nintendo is going too moneysink a 2D metroid.

i'm looking at the propects of getting a proper 3D kirby game.

It seems like most people don't understand this, and I've given up trying to explain it. >_<
