@Monkey_Balls Thanks. Yeah, I really don't want to restart, so I'll probably just give it a shot sometime here in the next couple of days. I just have to hope my kid doesn't want to play Mario Maker, because that's about the only thing anyone else ever does on the Wii U anymore. If your timeline proves invalid, I will probably try to delete the update data and start over...in about a year or so once my frustration subsides at all the lost time that will have caused.
Hooray! So I actually picked a really good time when I had a lot of free time, played all last night and this morning while watching Olympics and finally got to where it let me save, and it came back there when I turned the game off and turned it back on. It actually stopped letting me save manually as soon as I entered the library. So thanks for your help. Too bad it still sounds like I need to have lots of blocks of time to play this game if the glitch is going to keep happening, but at least I know I can make it now.
