Nintendo make some really stupid decisions.........constantly. I am a huge life long fan but they often make it hard for me, Just this week we heard the amazing news that they are thinking of removing the region coding its only 20 years too late .........but better late than never.

Now there is no euro release planned of the NES remix package and yet it is to be released in the U.S and is obviously out in Japan. What makes even less sense is that the DS version does have a Euro release...............for gods sake i have the cash let me give it to you, stop putting obstacles in the way of your supporters.

I have to admit I'm quite mad at NoE about no NES Remix Pack.

I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]

Well, it's not really a huge loss. If you really like the game, you can always download it. Perhaps they're testing the waters first in NA, who knows what they'll announce for 2015 in Europe..

I always take physical where possible, But i just had a thought maybe this is the precursor to the removal or the region lock? if they remove it i can but the NA version, there might actually be logic in this.

Sure, so do I, but at least the game is still available to us.

I don't think it's their way of removing the region lock... so that you can order a game from NA and pay for the extra shipping costs, that's not removing region lock, that's just complicated and expensive. If they want the game to be available in Europe, they will make it available in Europe.

At least you didn't waste your Club Nintendo platinum reward on NES Remix only to find out that the NES Remix Pack was coming to North America a few days later.

Good thing we don't have a Platinum Reward system in Europe.. nor eShop games through Club Nintendo..

I almost did that, but thankfully was still keeping my fingers crossed that this would happen so I selected a NES download instead. Then, what seemed like just a few days later, this retail bundle was announced.

Sadly, I didn't have as much luck with my Mario Kart 8 free game promotion. Selected Wind Waker HD and then a few months later, found it for $20 new at Wal-Mart in Canada.

Not their way or removing a region lock? the region lock removal is obviously a thing in itself but if they did then i could buy and play the NA physical i was merely surmising that maybe this was a tester to that fact. There is literally no reason why Europe would not get a release of this game its not we didnt buy or love the NES or that there arent many of us here in comparison to the rest of the world.

I was just forward thinking as to maybe they will test the waters in this way, there is nothing complicated about buying a game from america or japan i do it almost daily for one system or another.

Even if they remove region locking on the Wii U (Which I very much doubt... I suspect the news the other day is more about considering that possibility with their next generation hardware), I'd bet good money that it would only apply to software released after that date so it would probably not be of any use to you if you want to import this NES Remix collection.

Hopefully Europe gets it sometime soon, too. We've sometimes had to wait a while for things like the Super Mario All-Stars rerelease on the Wii. No reason why it can't go the other way, as well.

Region coding is controlled by the hardware not the software, this is why small production run movies use region '0' dvd's so that they can be watched on any machine this is also how many of the Japanese 360 titles are playable on western devices as they printed them in zero region so that the lock out hardware does not notice any issue. The removal of region locking on every Nintendo device is simply nothing more than an update to the firmware. The Datel disc loader that used to work on the wii until they changed the firmware just did exactly that it uploaded a temporary bypass image to the wii allowing a different region to bypass the control system, So every game ever released would work across all platforms in just the same way that it has with all past consoles.

I too truly hope they give this a euro release i mean we didnt get ducktales remastered for christs sake and thats like the biggest euro selling franchise of all time.

For Nintendo to lift existing region locking, they'd have to come to agreements with their publishers that have published content on the Wii U. That's why I'm quite confident that even if such a change were to occur, existing releases and Wii mode would most definitely maintain their existing restrictions and it would only apply to new releases subsequent to that date.

And there is no Wii U option for non region locked releases, unlike the occasional instance on the Xbox and Xbox 360 (Taito Legends 2 and WRC 2 from the UK are both region free, for two limited examples where Western Xbox/Xbox 360 releases were region free thanks to MS offering the publisher the option to forgo region locking). This NES Remix pack will be region locked since all Wii U releases are region locked.

I very much doubt that Nintendo will ever even provide the option of allowing a publisher to release a region free release on this platform. Maybe the next time around...
