You do realize Metacritic and this console generation being arguably bigger than last disagree with you.

I stopped reading at metacritic.

You do realise that the vast majority of games these days get high scores because the companies pay for that privilege.

I still have my preowned PS2 and great games... I pawned my preowned PS3 and library of whackness

Dude it's a video game forum full of kids. But thanks for taking your time to analyze my choice of words.

Full of Kids?

Sure, what's wrong with that?
I'd guess at least half people here are of the younger seasons no?

I find it a little assaulting that you assume that due to it being a Video Game Forum that is must be "full of kids"

What the?!
Is it really me talking in such a misunderstandable way?
Yes it's about video games.
Yes there are many kids in here (no idea how you took anything negative from it).
I made that comment because the analysis of my post and wording had nothing to do with the topic or video games and that the kids in here probably won't enjoy reading about someone being lectured.

Can we please stay on topic or just have no conversation?

Kids on a videogame centric website is nothing bad you know?

I'm a kid, I'll say that, but my views are not the same as the 'MLG' CoD Troll that lurks forums like this to start fights. I'm a slight bit offended that you think lower of me, and my opinion, because I am younger. And the full of kids part is complete bull. Just click on every profile in this thread, and only 1 or 2 out of 10 will be younger than 18, maybe not even that many.

You got me wrong, I only assumed there are many kids on this page, which is true, I never said I think lower of you or that its negative in any way being a kid.
It might be a problem with me being not a native english speaker. When I say someone is a kid, I mean he is a young adult. Thats it, no negativity. But it appears to me that saying "someone is a kid" comes off as being an insult to some people, which I cannot understand honestly.

While arguably reviews have lost their significance nowadays (at least in my opinion) I still think there ARE good games on "modern" platforms, just very few inbetween. If you look at this on a grander scale than just a console generation worth of timeframe, it becomes more obvious: In the earlier days of videogaming where hardware power was limited, the games had to convince potential gamers by other means than shiny graphics and big budget marketing campaigns.
FOR MY PERSONAL TASTE (and this of course holds true for everyone) there were far more enjoyable games in the timeframe of 1990-2002 (starting on Super NES, then later on PC since this were the systems of the time for me) than there are lets say 2002-2013.

That whole topic - for me - is about that the grand whole of the gaming industry is becoming more bland because they're trying to appeal to as many people as possible, cut dev costs low and maximize profit but Nintendo retaining most of its original charme, while still not being up to arms compared with themselves.
Good games still available? Yes! On different platforms? Yes. But you gotta look way closer than just a few years before.

While not agreeing with you a 100% I do see a trend of games become more repetitive and bland nowadays, which is not platform-dependent but a trademark of our modern times.
