I've been wanting clarity on this game for a while now and...oh boy, I got it.

I have to say his opinion on Nintendo is both a bit misguided and COMPLETELY understandable. Nintendo should've done more to promote one of the best ports they've arguably ever gotten, I can't deny that, especially with hindsight. But...EA...I dislike you very much.

Hard to take him seriously with that attitude and that language.

Even if this was the definitive version, it should not have been full price. GOTY editions usually appear months after the original game and include all content for $40. EA should have promoted it as it was their game.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

EA screwed up in many ways with Most Wanted U, but the biggest was that it released on the same day as Lego City Undercover, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate after a 3 month retail drought. It didn't help that it was $60.
I praise Criterion for trying to support the Wii U, but nothing worked their way.
Same went with Straight Right's Mass Effect 3 for Wii U. That game was at $60, and the Trilogy was announced 2 months before it's release.

If this is that Twitter conversation I think it is, I find it odd he would expect Nintendo to pick up EA's advertising bill. Seriously, I don't see Sony advertising Metal Gear Solid...

To add to that, some Nintendo demo kiosks at events like Disney World (or was it Land?) actually had NFS:MW as a whole demo booth...

I feel like he's using the opportunity to ride off Nintendo negativity to drive some extra attention.

Golden parachutes brah. Your asking EA to die would only screw over developers like the one who ironically comapling about his team got screwed, The management types would just get their golden money packages and go to another company or retire with more money than they need.

Well the game continues been a very good game.

It's also down to the fact that very few high street shops wanted to stock it in.
And it's beyond the joke now that any good games that get released, I'm having to look at either online shops or downloads.

Here in the UK - and I assume elsewhere - it wasn't that long before Most Wanted U was available for less than the retail price. I picked it up for around £25, which I felt was a great price for it. I still think it's one of the best games on Wii U - I can't get enough of it. Have to agree that EA could have done so much more for it; maybe if it wasn't released alongside Monster Hunter and LEGO City, then maybe Nintendo might have done something with it, but even then I doubt it.

That last post was so stupid it hurts. Nintendo can't do 3rd party games because they don't spend money to promote them? REALLY? The fact that this version came months after the other versions and how EA didn't do squat to promote it? And how none of EA's other games on Wii U are noteworthy? Oh right, it's all Nintendo's fault

This.

Also, that "Yawn" made everything he said in his own defense lose all credibility. It just made him look like an arrogant dipstick.

Last I checked, it was mainly the publisher's job to promote the game, not the console manufacturer's...

So when a game is a big seller, it's because it's the developer making a fabulous game that everyone wants and needs. When a game tanks it's the fault of the system producers for not promoting? I bought the game at £20, and I can honestly say although I can see the appeal for other people, it really wasn't one of those magic games that made me go silly over it like Arkham C or 101. It isn't like it has any competition as a realistic racer on the Wii U, and only Sonic Transformed of racers in general (which is vastly more fun). Maybe it was just the wrong game at the wrong time, that barely ANYONE cared about?

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

Here in the Netherlands at first you could not find a copy in any of the brick & mortar shops and some time later it appeared everywhere at half price. Really weird

Well Sony and Microsoft promote third party games all the time. It wouldn't hurt to see Nintendo co-op marketing for games. Seeing Xbox at the end of a FIFA ad or PlayStation at the end of a Assissans Creed ad goes a long way.

And I bet those publishers pushed for that. What exactly did EA do to push this game?

You CAN'T blame the manufacturer if the publisher didn't do anything.

Both PSN and Xbox charge for front page and newsletter advertising, they do nothing for free. In comparison anything in Nintendo direct, Nintendo Unleased or their Youtube channel is done for free. A quick Google search will give you a ton of indie devs, news articles and AAA companies supporting this.

It's a good port of one of the worst Criterion games ever made. It was released over six months late at full price without DLC. More than a few prominent sites (Game Informer, most notably) even reviewed it as the worst version (GA quote: "the behind the wheel experience puts it squarely in last place"). And it was hardly supported at retail. What was Nintendo supposed to do exactly?

From my perspective this game was put out to pasture by EA. Maybe they could have started working on the Wii U port sooner and released it closer to launch. Otherwise, it was never going to do better than it did. Probably rightfully so, because it's just not a very good game. Definitely not one I would recommend to many Wii U owners... Unless they specifically wanted to peel out in an open world, anyway.
