So, after nearly a year's usage for some of us, how is everyone's Gamepad holding up? The touchscreen - scratches, blemishes? The Buttons and sticks all dandy? Battery life dropping at all?
Lifelong Ninty fan here who has rarely had any hardware problems myself, but I am hearing more and more complaints internet wide about diminishing quality of Nintendo hardware
I don't like or use screen protectors on my DSes or 3DS, and now I have recently bought a Wii U I want to go naked - but I don't want a scratched up Gamepad from pass the gamepad sessions of "Nintendo Land". I LOVE the off screen play for bedtime Mario so the wuality of the screen matters to me. It isn't just a "map screen" for me!
Best thing to ask then, for those of you that are 6Months+ in, how are your pads holding up?
For those that aren't so picky about aesthetics, each to their own - I know this type of thread irritates some people but please don't bite Yes, it is about the games, totally, but some us us like our stuff kept "just so"
I have a silicone cover and screen protector on it. I didn't have that stuff at first, so the screen is scratched up underneath. When I first put it on, though, you couldn't see the scratches on the actual screen anymore.
So if you get a screen protector, it should look like your screen doesn't have any scratches if it did. Everything is exactly how it was when I got it on launch day, pretty much.

I've had mine for over 8 months now and it's mostly fine. Analog sticks are getting blue though.
Same here! I do not know how they got like that, but they're definitely blue. Also, my gamepad will stutter and quit working every so often, even though I'm less than 10 feet from the Wii U. Luckily, that doesn't happen that often..

Those that are going Blue.... Black or White models?
To be honest, it is the screen that bothers me the most.
Foolish story - today I received a HORI screen protector. I heard good things. And to its credit it went on sublimely. Except, as is near inevitable, a couple of dust specs got stuck under the applied screen. SO annoying trying to swipe them off to realise they are stuck there. I googled "removing dust under screen protector". And , of course, I made it worse. Dumbass. So screen protector ditched and naked again!
I guess the risk of damage is worse than the guaranteed reduction in quality from trapped dust. Here is to hoping it is plenty resilient and my pals don't have sandpaper thumbs!!
Great I keep a clothe over it so it doesn't get dusty and it's the white system so no finger prints or anything. Functionality is perfect though it makes a squeak every time I push the b button that annoys me
Just make sure your in good lighting so you see what your doing when you're putting on the screen protector. My 3DS XL doesn't look like it has a screen protector on it at all.

Touch screen's got a couple of scratches, but other than that it's like a new one.
