Unplugging the console like that doesn't hurt it in anyway, does it? I hope not... because I had to do it again today. This time it happened while my brother was playing Black Ops II on it.

Very worrying that it's happening on more than one game to many people. If it's not software related, then that is ALOT of recalls to be done...

A patch to fix this is apparently scheduled for next week.

It happened to me while playing Black Ops II as well. It's never a good thing for a system to shut down improperly, but game freezes happen. It's happened to me many times on the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii, and none of them died because of it. Don't worry about it, it'll be fine as long as it doesn't become a regular thing and the problem gets fixed.

I've found things much more stable after disconnecting the wii u from the internet. I wonder if its a bug with Miiverse...

Mine only froze once I was not connected to the internet, so who knows?

I've had that happen on my 3DS...I was on Mii Plaza and the screen suddenly froze. After holding the power button for what seemed like 3 weeks, it turned off. Now, don't tell me,"WHAT THE HECK DOES A 3DS HAVE TO DO WITH A WII U?!" I was only making a connection, except on a different Nintendo system.

I'm sorry your three weeks were wasted. That's a lot of time you could have spent not doing that.

Same thing happened while loading a game of that Pikmin Nintendo Land game, glad to see I'm not alone in this problem.

I haven't experienced any freezing problems yet. I've probably gotten in about a total of 10 hours of gameplay on my Wii U since I've had it (Sunday). The only problem I did have was when ZombiU was at the loading screen and it took forever to load. I thought it was gonna freeze then, but it didn't and it finally loaded.

The games I've played are NSMBU, ZombiU and Nintendo Land. I've only played Nintendo Land once, though. Sounds like I need to stay away from that game for the time being.

The last two weeks were wasted - just wait for it to run out of battery (grossly overestimating battery life).

If it's doing it in multiple pieces of software and in the menu itself it's probably just a bug in the firmware. The patch they're saying will be out next week to fix it will probably fix it across the board. It's a good thing the Wii U has the ability to patch games though. If it's not the firmware and its in the games themselves then they can also patch that!

I'm kinda sad that yeah, this is typical.

Froze on me twice. I am glad it's not just me though, I've never been so relieved to hear of an upcoming update!

Froze on me in the menu twice. And both times, it was when a mii named "stephen" was on the screen. I saved his mii because I think HE is the reason our Wii U's are crashing!

mine hasn't locked up to this point. But I've had my ps3 lock up on me a lot of times, and even after all the resets it still worked fine.
