Topic: My Wii U just froze on me, again...

Ever since last update my system completely locks up in the middle of a game.

Mine always does, usually when i start up FIFA or when im playing Black Ops II.

Mine only froze while I was playing DarksidersII

Freeze is rare, i had it with Darksiders 2, NBA 2k13, Sonic All Star racing......... only NSMBU did not have freeze.

A game? What game? Any game? A good game?

I only freeze from Netflix. Just deleted the app and won't use it until it's fixed.

When your Wii U has frozen as much as mine has while playing this game, then you have my permission to cry.
It's extremely annoying as I just started a "Skylander marathon". I don't want to use the Wii version for this one game, I want to play it the best way possible on my Wii U, for goodness' sakes.
I really don't want to continue collecting to this franchise, but this game is optimised so poorly that I'm considering buying the sequel just to have a pretty game with Giants that doesn't freeze constantly. It's crazy but whenever I have to force-unplug my Wii U, it makes me feel really, really bad.

same here but a few times going into things like miiverse or netflix too.

Mine would freeze at random times.... Not very often, but several occasions...

I have had my Wii U since Launch and play maybe 15 to 20 hours a week, I have been busy and not able to put in as many hours as I would like, and after all the updates I have only had a freeze in Netflix once. Sorry to hear your Wii U freezes so much

Mine freezes every once in a blue moon. I have only had it freeze during BO2 though.

I've never had my Wii U "freeze" so to speak, but I have gotten stuck in an infinite loading loop on Miiverse a few times

I only have Nintendo Land and ZombiU, about 10 VC games, and the Rayman Legends Challenges App a lot. I've never had my Wii U freeze during any of these games, which leads me to believe that it's an issue with certain games rather than your Wii U? Maybe not though

@PloXyZeRO My system only freezes on Skylanders, never froze on Mario, Nintendo Land, etc. and never on Wii games(yes, that's a thing... Someone's system froze playing the Wii version of Toy Story 3). However, I don't play other games on my Wii U nearly as much. My system freeze rate spiked when I updated early last month. I will play all my games and see which ones freeze... But I'm hoping the new update will fix my console, if not, it's time to finally call Nintendo(which I've been holding off of doing in hopes that an update would repair my problems).

Need For Speed is the bad egg with me.. I haven't had any other problems though. We don't have Netflix in the Netherlands so I haven't tried that. Is there some way to report the freezing?

I've only ever had my WiiU freeze on Skylanders Giants! I feel your pain. It freezes and makes a horrific, prolonged beeeeeeeeeep sound. I have to unplug and retry and it may or may not happen. I called Nintendo who directed me to activision. I called them, left an angry but polite message and no one cares. It's frustrating and lazy. I know that not many WiiU units of the game were sold, but that doesn't mean that you get to sell crap! That being said, it has frozen a lot less for me since the last update. Maybe I've just finally got past the erroneous portion of the game?

In my collection Assassin's Creed III is the only Wii U game that occasionally freezes.

Seems like Skylanders is the common problem then, not the Wii U! See if the company that made the game has some sort of forums and try to make a topic there about it if no one else has already...or try e-mailing/tweeting the company. There's always a chance that if enough people complain, they may patch the game!

@Shworange Have you been online while playing? I've played for a couple of hours since I updated and thankfully no freeze yet. But I've been playing totally offline. It's running kind of poorly so I'm afraid that if I attempt to go online it will start freezing again. I still need to test it for the sake of testing it at some point, but I've been playing SSA lately instead, as I still want to finish 2 more saves on that.

@PloXyZeRO I guess I could post about it on the Activision forums, but not many Skylander players are getting it from what I've seen. And there were pretty serious glitches with the last game(Wii: glitch that will not let you finish the game if triggered, PS3: glitch that stopped a certain challenge working without tiptoe), and they never patched those, so I don't have my hopes up. Thankfully, I also have the PS3 version for when I really need a Giants in HD fix, but it's still ridiculous.

Super Luigi U has locked up on me a few times now.

I think it all depends on the game. It's Nintendo's first HD system, so we can expect a few kinks that need ironing out. So far, I've only experienced a freeze with Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed, and only once. And I own and play Nintendoland, NSMBU, Lego City Undercover, MH3 Ultimate, Game & Wario, Darksiders 2, Batman Arkham Origins, Assassin's Creed 3, Mass Effect 3, Zombie U, Call of Duty BO2, Ninja Gaiden Razor's Edge, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Need For Speed Most Wanted U, Injustice Gods Among Us, and Sonic Racing Transformed. So maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe you guys have just been unlucky, I don't know. But I do think that each freeze will need to be patched on the software side of things, from the game's developer for each specific game causing a freeze. I really don't think it's the Wii U OS causing the issues. On the other hand, perhaps it is, and that's why so many games' code are conflicting with it.
