Turned on my Wii U today to play some Pikmin 3 and realized that the touchscreen on the gamepad no longer functions, it won't pick up inputs however all the buttons still work and there is no damage to the actual gamepad I've never dropped it. I was wondering if anyone has had this issue and are Nintendo able to fix it.
@Azooooz I'm running the battery out and then charge it to see if that does something if not I'll send it to Nintendo for repair, just annoyed because SM3DW will probably arrive before its fixed.
I have had something similar. My touchscreen also didn't respond. I couldn't enter the main wii u menu, I think.
Anyhow I send it in together with the wii u itself and got it back within 3/4 days. I recieved a new gamepad, so I think they didn't bother trying to fix it.

I had the exact same problem - everything worked except the touchscreen. I took out the battery - it really does seem tiny in that large space - and put it back in but that didn't help. Checked around on the web and apparently that 1-touch screen can get a crumb or something stuck somewhere on it which sort of disables the screen. In my case I had a teeny-tiny speck stuck under my screen protector. So if you have a screen protector take that off first and retry the Gamepad - probably want to turn the system off while you remove the screen protector. Also look around the edges of the screen to look for anything tiny thta might be wedged in there. Hope you get it working, drove me crazy for hours.
