Topic: My problems with hype trains

I think the recent announcements at VGX demonstrate the things I find wrong with hype you see people were expecting a new Zelda even when Nintendo clearly stated that would be shown at E3 2014. We were clearly warned that this VGX thing would be an update on a previously announced game. VGX isn't really the place for new game reveals anyway. It's people own darn fault they are so disappointed. When they hear words like world premier they allow themselves to get way too over-hyped and set their expectations too damn high. When its not what they wanted or expected they go apecrazy no pun intended. And technically you can consider the DKC franchise more hardcore than Mario due to being much more challenging

Anyway, yes, people should focus more on what they have, not worry about what they "could have".

I believe it was overblown by everyone except Nintendo. Geoffrey was the fool who got everyone overhyped for it.

It's just sad. Of course there was going to be no new game, but a trailer followed by a quick level or match could've been just fine, but no. Like many others have said, it was a missed opportunity.

Nintendo coulda shown Bayonetta 2, Monolith's X, and even something Super Smash Bros. related.
But did they? No.
Reggie got up there and got humilated. Those guys were mean to him and all he did was show that CRANKY was announced for DK U. DK U is gonna be a great game but REALLY, NINTENDO?! REALLY??????
I will never get hyped for a Nintendo announcement again. I will always assume the worst for now on.

I feel like a lot of people set themselves up for disappointment. The Wii U is struggling right now so if Nintendo had something huge to announce you would have heard about it by now.

Its their next big game.
Why show stuff from a game that we won't see for months at an awards show? It really makes no sense at all. Also, the Cranky Kong stuff leaked a few days ago and it was pretty obvious what their announcement was going to be.

Its your own fault. If it was Smash Bros, Sakurai would have been there in person. similar with Bayonetta having Hideki Kamiya and X having someone from Monolith. VGX isn't really the place for big new game reveals and from what I have heard that new Division gameplay trailer wasn't something to write home about either. Blame Geoff from making you set your expectations so damn high

That's a fair argument, and probably the most fair comment tonight. i can see that. I was personally hoping and thinking we'd see the next smash bros character since it's about time schedule-wise for a new announcement. I agree that a new game was unrealistic though. However, a new trailer should've been shown and wasn't unrealistic.

People have the most unrealistic expectations sometimes. What we want is not necessarily the best or most realistic option.

No, those guys were real jerks and were humiliated. Read the social media reaction to the show, Nintendo weren't the ones who came out of it looking average. The show did.

It's pretty funny to see some people losing it over an overhyped awards show.
