We'll call it "Miner Mario." You can play as any Mario character or Miis. Same premise as Minecraft except no creepers, zombies, pigs, etc. They're all replaced with Goombas, Koopas, CheepCheeps, Boos, etc.

I would only buy it if they got rid of the limited world size they had in the xbox version.

It's a possibility. Mojang obviously have no problem porting the game to get plenty more sales, although the sales on the Wii U would be very limited. If they didn't, it wouldn't be because the platform would restrict modding or performance, because otherwise it never would have left the PC.

I think it might be easier to get Castle Miner Z on WiiU as that developer is smaller and doesn't have a deal with microsoft already... Just a thought

Anyways, I do enjoy playing Minecraft a lot. It was the only game that got me away from Monster Hunter for a good while. Eventually it did become a bit pointless after I built everything that what I wanted and lacked the joy of multiplayer mode. Most of the fun I get now is from mods (just 3 so far) and making new textures to share with my friends for our favorite mod. I haven't tried multiplayer mode on the PC yet mainly because none of my friends can pick a good time to play.

Well, I don't have it. And I want to play it. So I for one hope it comes to the Wii U. I don't care whether or not it's overrated. Let's get an overrated game.

...Well I did see a Minecraft forum at the side of the main page. And I don't really reply much on this site now anyways.

I wonder if there's a mod that makes the game more realistic...I'm going for a degree in civil engineering and I'm thinking of applying the mechanics of solids to several block types in the game to make it more interesting, but I'm not into coding so I can't do it on my own.

I haven't played Minecraft in forever (I know I mentioned this months ago) but @Astraea yes there are plenty of realism mods, or there were when I played.

Oh it's not a bad game. I personally got bored of it quick though. I think it's overhyped a bit. Still, it's the kind of game that's better suited to PC gaming anyways. Though the Wii U touch screen could be useful, I suppose.

Looking at the dozens of PC Minecraft clones I'm pretty surprised we haven't seen a single one on the Wii U. Only a matter of time, I wager.

The limited world size was do the the Xbox 360's limited power. The Wii U maybe able to handle more, but I wouldn't count on it.
