Huge problems today with wara plaza showing default icons. This now seems to be fixed. However upon entering Nintendoland now it shows default miis and I have to touch one to load miiverse. This always happened automatically.
Anyone else with similar experiences? Would love a solution!
Actually... Yesterday, Wara Wara plaza was showing the default icons, too. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, then updating to fix it, but it didn't work. I left it alone because there wasn't anything I could do to fix it, and today it's back to normal.
In conclusion, I think it's automatic. Don't worry about it and let it fix itself.

I'm sure Nintendo themselves fixed the plaza but still getting the Nintendoland issue. I never needed to touch any mii to get miiverse to work prior to now. Can't think how to get it loading automatically again.
Checked again this morning and it still won't load miiverse automatically. I did have router issues yesterday but I can't figure out why Nintendoland won't work as before. Even deleted the update and ran again.
Basically it seems to think miiverse isn't active as per the message I get. Weird.
It could be one of two things: your internet/router stopped working for a second while the plaza was loading or Nintendo's server was down. It's not that big of an issue

Just wondered if anyone else was experiencing this today or not. Prior to my router firmware issue miiverse always loaded automatically. I'm hoping it's a server issue but if it's only me then who knows.
Just the message about inviting other miis in when you touch one. Anyway it looks like speed is an issue. If I go and play the coin pachinko game for a while then enter and quit an attraction, some mii posts are filtering through.
I had problem with the Wara Wara Plaza for... About a month and just 'fixed it' a week ago. I don't know how, but it works now.
Then yesterday it showed default Miis again and I was very angry, but... today it magically works again..
My Nintendoland has the same issue that you described.
The Wara Wara Plaza is a mystery, but I hope you will have the same luck that I've had. Its best if everyone notifies Nintendo about it, though I think by now they know this is a significant issue for many people.
I've had the default items for a couple of weeks. Tried everything people have suggested: deleting my Internet connection, downloading and installing an app, Yeah-ing someone's Miiverse post, creating another user.
