@belmont I have a Twitter account I use for Switch screenshots, and y'know what? Nobody looks at it. Most of my tweets get no likes unless they're retweeted by a bot, in which case they might get one or two. Granted, this may be because I lack the motivation and social skills to make a name for myself, but on Miiverse I've never really had to try. I can post something and whoever happens to be in that community will give it a few yeahs and maybe comment on it. It's not much, but it's nice to get some form of appreciation, and to know I'm actually being seen. Hashtags just don't produce the same effect.
The difference is that Miiverse is a community. A place. It's somewhere people go for a reason, and it's structured with that reason in mind. Facebook and Twitter are the wide-open plains of the internet; accessible and diverse, but lacking in direction. They will never serve any particular purpose as well as a specialist site could. And if you don't agree with that, why are you here when you could be on Facebook?
Disappointed in Nintendo again. These Wii U games are still being sold brand new on the shelves at my Target yet they are having features removed while they still want full price for the game. I wish Nintendo would support things like this and the Wii and DS internet connectivity longer than they do.
@blaisedinsd i agreee! Im extremely disappointed in nintendo for the last few years. And how dare they pull they plug. Gonna piss off lotsa fans. Miiverse was special. I mighta notta used it lotta, but i liked checking it some... especially now that i just got Super Mario Maker and im worried that game will surely suffer from this loss.
I'm wondering why Nintendo is hurrying so much to kill anything Wii U. I mean, I can't imagine Miiverse being so expensive that they can't afford to keep it alive at least for one more year. Considering there's still a lot of people using it, and that Virtual Console and indie games are still coming out for the console, I'm genuinely baffled - why kill something that doesn't cost much, that works and that people seem to still enjoy?! Plus, as mentioned, many games like Mario vs Donkey Kong or Pushmo use it for level sharing, so shutting down Miiverse makes them worthless.
Nintendo has disappointed me many times, but ever since Iwata died in 2015, I don't think they did one single thing I approved of. I eventually decided to stop buying their products - I'll get a Switch second hand down the road at some point, with some second hand games, so I can still play what I want to play without giving them a penny. I mean, it's the only way I have to take a stand.
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

The Game Over messages from Resident Evil Revelations were a nice way to use Miiverse.
Anywhere you die, you get fitting and funny messages from other players that died in the same area of the chapter, and write your own Death Notes for other players to read. I loved it. A very subtle and strong way to share experiences, emotions, and excitement.
Anyway, is anyone interested to rack up stars with me in Super Mario Maker and unlock everything in Mario vs DK Tipping Stars before the time runs out? I really wanna have both these games complete before it's getting impossible.
Write down your friendcodes or catch me on Miiverse (Hoagie/SCATTERKID) and let's unlock everything that needs Miiverse. If you want to add me as a friend write something like "Miiverse unlocks" in your message, or you get denied as someone who just wants to add me for no reason.
My daughter Beth has been left totally devastated by Nintendos decision to end Miiverse. Beth has autism and is socially isolated and her only avenue for social inclusion was through miiverse and she is grieving as to the loss of her friends on Miiverse with no alternative being proposed by Nintendo. I view Nintendo as neglecting their moral responsibilities to vulnerable customers in this regard building up their hopes and trust in a product only to snatch it away in a cold and thoughtless manner without regard to the emotional impact that this can have on these individuals. I have written to Nintendo on their customer care site and have yet to receive a response. No surprise!
@Octane It only became a matter of when after they decided against having it on the Switch. Before then, I think a lot of us reasonably expected it to continue indefinitely.
