I agree Mega Man spiritual successor sounds much better than what I've seen from this game too. I really hope the last few months of fine tuning make the gameplay away blowing material. The graphics aren't that important if it's in combination with great gameplay.

Wow! and here I thought that the game would continue where Mega Man stopped. Guess it's not the spiritual successor that many hoped for.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

That being said though, my enthusiasm and expectations have dropped dramatically.

Isn't already a judgement call if your enthusiasm and expectations have dropped? As in you're judging the game to not be as good as you had initially thought or hoped it would be? Just sayin'.

Yeah I guess it kind of is.
Still, gonna try to be not as critical of the game till I actually play it and even then I'll try to treat it as a stand alone game rather than a Mega Man Sucessor.

Sigh. Now I just hope Capcom release HD remasters of the Megaman/X series. From what I'm seeing in this video, Mighty No.9 is definitely not going to replace the Megaman franchise. Not by a long shot. It could be a good game, but it's definitely not Megaman kind of good.

Lets hope Bloodstain will actually be something other than a simple and bland knockoff.

How is this possible since Capcom owns the Mega Man IP? This game is made by the original creator of Mega Man so it has the same vibe but I think it looks like a lot of fun and will provide a solid challenge.

It looks fine to me. Seems that people get the "ugly and boring" vibe from it's somewhat simplistic style. Haven't played much mega man in my life, but I can see how people would think it could be better.

I don't get why people had so high expectations for this. First, it looked terrible from day one. Second, Inafune is not exactly one of the brilliant minds of the industry - IIRC most of what he did for Capcom was being a producer, which means taking care of the business side of things when it comes to game making. The only reason his name is associated with MegaMan is because he happened to produce some of the games during the NES/SNES era, I think, or make the pixel art for some of them.

And you gotta admit he's pretty good as a business guy because he was able to collect 4 million bucks for a game that honestly looks like it's worth a tenth of that amount.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Looks like a vanilla wafer PS2 Megaman clone, I was bored halfway through the gameplay video.

Admittedly, it does look the same as it did since Day 1 but I was holding out judgement in the hope that the final product would look much better but yeah no. Oh well. I didn't fund it so no love lost here for me but I do feel bad for the people that did and are quite disappointed with what their money went towards.

Yeah I preferred the concept art, the current models are quite bland and boring.

In fairness, concept art /= actual product.

But at the same time if they went with a 2D aesthetic instead of the rather bland-looking 3D visuals we see now it could've easily been a more visually appealing game IMO.

I'm honestly quite baffled they didn't go with that. Comcept is great when it comes to 2D and Sprite art. What were they thinking?!

I honestly think it's because 2D art is niche in America.

...true, but so is modern Mega Man...but Inafune did go on about how Japanese companies need to branch out and appeal more to the west...

This will probably be more successful this way. Which offends me way more than any problems I have with the game tbh. I would be happy to say that this game will not do as well because it doesn't look like the more impressive 2d art, but tragically that's probably a lie.

I'm indifferent to this whole project as I never had a super interest in this from the start. I was excited to hear of a new "RockMan" game but it was under a different name. I'm not sure what to make of it, I never really trusted Inafune, he always seemed sort of half hearted when he spoke about his work with Capcom. I think the biggest offender was the opening stage music, which sounded somber and boring; that is not how I remember Rockman. They even brought back the first musician who worked on the original games too. I hope there's better music in the game, that's all I want to see as an improvement farther into the game.
