Tanabe has been pretty candid as of late, leading us to believe that development on a Metroid game for Wii U hasn't even begun yet. Now, whether or not we're inclined to believe that, I think it's time we took matters into our own hands, and keyboards. This is more storytelling than forum game; just respond to (but not quote) the comment immediately prior and type a paragraph or so that furthers the story without taking it in too radical of a direction. I'll start us off;

Samus wakes to the sound of her gunship console's automated alarm, she had reached her destination. Taking the manual controls, she observed that the marooned ship was just over a kilometer ahead of her, with a cloud of debris slowly drifting, caught in the orbit of the planet below. It was dawn, in this orbit, anyway, as the red sun's light was just beginning to light the wreck. It was a mid-sized craft, built for affordable transit, occupancy around 100 or so; a space bus. With the amount of time this contract had been out for not even a third that number could have survived, she thought to herself.

40 meters out now, she brought her ship to a halt. The transport's hull was plain to begin with, now made ugly by scorch marks and a jagged breach in the hull where, she figured, the cockpit must have been. There were no wings left, let alone a surface upon which to land. Just as well, she thought, best not risk damaging her ticket out of here. Powering on her armor, she stood and entered the gunship's exit hatch. They hydraulic-powered lift extended from the bottom of her ship, dangling in space where a dock would typically be. She spun in the low gravity bracing her legs against the lift like a trained swimmer. Samus kicked off, propelling herself towards the wreck and though back to her bounty...

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

...Inside, she found the command console that contained a recording of the events that transpired. Somehow, they had miraculously survived. Tentatively, she scanned them with her suit and played the last few minutes of footage on her visor's heads up display.

The passengers sat quietly. A small child stirred in his mother's lap and pointed towards the rear of the cabin, towards the restrooms. His mother shook her head, and as she spoke she made a motion with her hand to tell the child that they were landing soon.

Suddenly, the cabin was struck from outside. Through the windows, a black shadow with wings with the glare of this system's sun to his back. Samus paused the footage and looked closely at the face in the window. An expression of shock passed over her face.

"No! It can't be!" she whispered. "Ridley!"

She hurried back to her ship with the footage and generated a three dimensional history of the attack. It was clear that the monster had taken something from the ship and flown down to the planet below. Upon scanning the surface, it was revealed that a Space Pirate base was directly below...

Upon entering the planet's atmosphere, the Space Pirate base is revealed to be an enormous ship, and with no other structures around with near the same amount of technological advancement, it's clear that the pirates had violated Federation law by invading an underdeveloped planet (it's illegal to make contact with civilizations who lack the ability to leave their own solar system), presumably in an attempt to hide their actions from the prying eyes of the Federation.

Upon scoping out the landscape from above, it's apparent that the pirates have indeed launched a campaign of agression against the fledgling civilization that exists on the planet. Villages left burning all around, though there still seems to be one place holding on. It's a large fortified settlement with a damaged castle in it's center, the symbol emblazed proudly on it's entrance? It consists of three triangles...

It's clear that the damaged transport ship she ran across was only travelling by this solar system. This planet was neither it's source or it's destination. Ridley must have attacked it because it had gotten too close to their operation. Had the crew noticed that there were advanced communication signals radiating from an undedeveloped planet, they may have revealed his location to the Federation, so he had to take it out of the equation. Though she knows it would be illegal for her herself to interfere without the permission of the Federation, she knows she must act. Something must be done, NOW!
