Prime Hunters 2, por favor
I liked the addition of new characters. Metroid Prime: Hunters was the only 3D Metroid game I've played (I have Other M but I stopped playing after like 30 minutes) but I loved it. It was also my first experience with online gaming (besides Club Penguin, lol), and that was magical to me at the time! It was great until people started getting Action Replays
The weapons like the Imperialist, Battle Hammer, Judicator, etc. all were very unique and brought variety to the game. I'm not sure how they relate to Metroid Prime 1, 2, or 3, but Hunters was a great game in my opinion. I would definitely get another Metroid game on Wii U if it was like Hunters.
You sir desperately need to play Quake II...or any FPS made since.
I have Quake II...and III...and IV
I also play Counter Strike, Team Fortress 2, Doom, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, Battlefield, occasionally Call of Duty, Killzone 3, Halo, Brink, etc.
I have experience with FPS's and I think that Metroid Prime Hunters has very good concepts that would translate well to Wii U! It was also pretty impressive for the DS in my opinion
It's one of the standout franchises of Nintendo. No, it's not dead. The last game was not so long ago. No franchise of Nintendo is ever dead. See Kid Icarus or Super Punch Out or Pilotwings etc.

You know to be honest I liked the Hunters multiplayer as much as the next guy, but story-wise the other bounty hunters in this game and Prime 3 just weren't that interesting. When asked about a future Metroid game, Retro's first comment was how many ideas for new bounty hunters they have. With the cheesiness that came before it makes me think maybe Retro is just not cut out for it anymore. I'd rather see the story evolve into something better, much like the Marvel movies did for cheesy comic books, rather than retread the same tired B-movie type story. I'd still love to see Retro try their hand at a Zelda game while the Zelda team does a Metroid though.
Maybe they'll get someone skilled with experience in first person shooters, but I can't really think of anyone off the top of my head with a positive history with Nintendo that has that experience other than High Voltage, which worked on The Conduit.
Just thought of someone who's not directly affiliated with Activision, EA, Valve, Sony, or Microsoft (as none of those seem to be in a good relation ship with Nintendo). Can anyone else imagine Id software making a Metroid game? They made Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein, and Rage in the past. It's true that in the past they were mainly a PC games developer and their relationship with Nintendo has been apparently non-existent, but they're not associated directly with Nintendo's competitors and I don't think non-existent counts as bad.
lol this is so silly. None of Nintendo's IP's can be considered dead. I think every single one has a chance of a revival, even if it's just a re-release. Look at EarthBound, finally coming to the Americas AND Europe after like, what, 18 years of waiting? Everything just takes time. Metroid is a sure-fire money maker for the big N. I'm sure they have something planned for when the time is right.

The last Metroid game, despite questionable quality, wasn't released THAT long ago. Give it time, Metroid isn't Mario and has like 2 games come out every year. Be patient.
Metroid Other M wasn't completely "awful", the whole storyline was just horrible, the dialogue wasn't needed, Samus felt more like a soppy emo teen and most of the characters I forgot about rather quickly. But the gameplay was actually pretty fun, mixing an FPS view with 2D side scrolling was quite nifty.
I wouldn't mind if they returned to that kind of setup again, but leave the voice acting in a massive hole.

I could not agree more, and my agreement is SUPER HIGH. I too that Other M was absolutely FUN. Bad story and voice-acting (Adam and Anthony weren't that bad), but I LOVED the gameplay. Metroid Other M's gameplay maybe my favorite type of gameplay. Well said, @Chris720
@Varia01 I feel they did Adam quite well since he needed more fleshing out, but the other characters (even Samus) didn't feel like they should have been there. The story didn't really mesh together in my opinion, especially waiting for Adam to allow Samus to use certain abilities. And the story left a bitter taste in my mouth at the end.
But the gameplay was its one saving grace. It was fluid, it was fun, it was amazing, it was kick butt epic! It gave me an experience only the Wiimote could actually give and they pulled it off nicely... but I never want voice-acting in a Nintendo game ever again. D:
i believe it is ridiculous for anyone to believe metroid is dead... what would possibly cause nintendo to stop? My favorite metroid game is either super metroid, or metroid prime 1, and i personally thought other m was pretty good, while i thought metroid prime 3 was a joke. I didnt think the story made samus look bad at all.
Personally i believe most anyone could make the next metroid game, sure retro bringing the series to 3D was impressive, but now that there is a formula, i really dont think they need retro to work on it. Retro should be working on something different (perhaps another retro game revival like dkc?)
THERE WILL BE ANOTHER METROID GAME! it's painfully obvious
Why do people hate Team Ninja for Other M? They had nothing to do with the story development of the game, they were responsible for the engine and in that respect that did a brilliant job!
