Posts 1 to 20 of 20

Almost everyone I talk to has a memorable moment of a past Nintendo System. Do people have memorable Wii U moments? Is there a past memorable Nintendo moment you want to share?

NES - Playing Excitebike with my cousins, being introduced to Video Games.
SNES - Being lost in A Link to the Past and still having a ton of fun.
N64 - Playing Beetle Adventure Racing with my friends.
GameCube - Exploring the world of Metroid Prime, and hundreds of hours spent in Smash Bros. Melee.
Wii - Eacing in England in ExciteTruck.
Wii U - Spending a whole day playing Metroid Blast with my brother. He was in the ship and I was on foot.

What are your memorable moments?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Atari 2600: Playing space invaders was my first introduction to video games
Nes: Had to be when I completed Rad Gravity
Snes: Replaying A link to the past non stop
Mega Drive: Playing nothing but Sonic 3 and knuckles
PS1: When I thought the Final Fantasy series was a fighting series
N64: Goldeneye nothing else
GameCube: resident evil has unbelievable graphics (and still does)
PS2: When I wore out my Battlefront 2 disc
Wii: Motion Controls
360: The HD Graphics
PC (if you want to count it): The Mods.

I know I added non nintendo systems but whatever.

NES:When my dad rented the system for my sister and I and we ended up playing Mario Bros. and Gauntlet all night.
SNES:Playing Chrono Trigger for the very first time. Its what got me into RPG's.
Genesis:Playing Streets of Rage with my buddies.
N64:The best multiplayer experience. GE64, FZero, WCW or WWF, Smash Bros, Mario Party, Beetle Adventure Racing.
Gamecube:Playing Smash Brothers all the time with friends and family.
Wii:Wii Sports and motion controls. And playing GE with some cool people from this site. Still one of my favorite FPS for any system.
WiiU:Playing Monster 3 Ultimate with my brother for days.

Wii U: JUST TODAY, played with four of my friends for hours trying to make it to the top 10 on the leaderboards for today's challenge in the Rayman Legends Challenges app
Mission succeeded

Lots of laughs were laughed, tears shed, blood and sweat released, etc., but we were all screaming when we finally made it! We even have video but I'm not sure if I'll upload it yet or not because it's pretty....stupid

N64: Playing Smash Bros. when I was four years old and unlocking Captain Falcon. I was so happy!
GBA: Finding secrets with my friends in kindergarten for the GBA version of Super Mario World
Gamecube: I played it a lot as a kid but I've had most fun playing Smash Bros. and Double Dash!! with my friends now! (I'm 16 years old and my friends are 16/17)
DS: Playing Nintendo WiFi games (My first experience with online gaming!). Played Mario Kart DS and Metroid Prime: Hunters online a lot, and made tons of friends on the Nintendo forums when they were still up. I also played Mario Kart with a bunch of friends in 5th grade and we would all hide our DS's when a teacher walked by! Gooood times.
Wii: Playing games like Mario Party, Boom Blox, and Rayman Raving Rabbids with friends was always a lot of fun, but it often brought the worst out of us too! I never really had too many multiplayer Wii games until recently, though.

So far for Wii U, honestly this is gonna sound like I'm burying the Wii U but I'm not (in this case at least) but I was annoyed for years that the Animal Crossing title music seemingly cut off and Nintendo Land for the menu for the Animal Crossing game, has the full song. Finally, after over 10 years! Like that was so random and I was very happy for something so unimportant. The ridiculous effort to get gold trophies for most of these Rayman challenges is comparable to the insane bonus level of Origins, so that's up there too. And I guess, it's just nice to see, with Nintendo Land specifically (at this point so far) for me to have another retail game with HD graphics that's ridiculously colorful. I mean on Xbox 360, I don't have games like that outside of Rare's games sadly.

N64: Exploring OOT and Banjo Kazooie when I was 8 was mindblowing. Especially on other people's files since I was terrible at games.
GCN: Smash Bros. Melee multiplayer and Metroid Prime as a whole.
Wii: The 5 hours I spent in one sitting enjoying nothing but exploring and battling in a JRPG (Xenoblade), finally finding the console after literally 3 months or so, Super Mario Galaxy as a whole, downloading old games.

For the Wii it was this scene:

For the Wii U so far it has been the multiplayer in Nintendo Land. Because I put a video for the Wii moment I should probably do the same for the Wii U. Quite litterally something along these lines:

Best memories I have are from playing these games...

Excitebike on NES
Super Mario World on SNES
Pokemon on Gameboy
Ocarina of Time on N64
SSB Melee on Cube
Wii Sports on Wii
Wii U... Hmmm... Nintendoland. So much fun I've had with it, especially collecting the trophies.

I was playing NSMBU. I was playing the Meringue Clouds boss level (Ludwig von Koopa). It's ridiculously hard. I jump to deliver the third and final pounce. I bash his head, win the fight, and fall off the platform. Must replay the level.

Epic fail, but pretty memorable at the same time. xD

If we're including fails then I change my most memorable moment on the Wii to Super Mario Galaxy. One of the Purple Coin challenges I got all of the Purple coins and was heading back towards the star.... when I missed a jump fell to my doom......

@defhalan Beetle bug racing, that game was so much fun. I remember getting teased by my friends and older brother for getting it, yet they were the ones having the most fun playing the game.

Sega Master System = The 2nd dragon boss (mummy dragon) finally beating it with my family. (Wonderboy and the Dragons Trap)
Gameboy = Realising how big Pokemon was, just wandering around for hours.
SNES = Tie between seeing how awesome Donkey Kong looked and playing Yoshis Island for the first time.
GBA = Mouth dropping when I saw how good Gokus house looked in Legacy of Goku (my first gba game)
DS = Easily Mario Kart, still can't believe how fast gaming tech has advanced. I dreamed of being able to play N64 games on my Gameboy as a kid and now we can play games that make N64 games look like ass.
Wii = Easy, Wii Sports with family on Xmas day sigh...
Wii U = playing around with the system for about 2 hours before actually playing a game, just loved the controller so much. still do!

NES: Got two hand me down NES consoles from my cousins, and played Super Mario Bros. 3 when I was 5. We actually had a ton of games.
SNES: My grandpa got an SNES with Castlevania IV, Mario All-Stars, Donkey Kong Country and Kirby's Avalanche. My siblings and I played that every time we visited for years and years.
GBC: I got this for Christmas the year it came out. I got Bomberman Pocket, Game and Watch Gallery 2, and eventually had lots of other games that I enjoyed like Mario Land 2 and Wario Land.
N64: My siblings and I got the DK64 bundle, and we were amazed by the controller and 3D graphics. The game being DK helped out alot, too.
GBA: My brother and I were excited to see Mario Kart and other SNES type games in our hands. My brother wanted a GBA so bad, that he got the pink one which was the only one left in stock.
GCN: At this point, I was pretty into video games. I asked my parents to get me a GCN for my birthday that I would share half with my brother. I knew I got a GCN, because I read the GBC was the same height as the GCN.
I got it 5 months after it came out with Super Smash Bros. as my first game. My brother got Sonic Adventure 2 later in the year.
We were so freaking happy with only 2 games a majority of the year. I also was able to get 4 player matches on every game for this console, even 4 Sword Adventures.
DS: I got this system a month after it came out. I immediately knew this console was gold. I bought it with Christmas money, amd was amazed by N64 style graphics in a handheld. My first game was Mario 64 DS. I even came to the conclusion that DS had better graphics than N64 by comparing the visuals.
Wii: My first launch day console. I was excited, but surprising my relatives from out of town got more of a kick out of it than I did. I waited 2 hours in the cold, and I was getting it as an early Christmas present to share with my brother. We got 2 full sets of controllers, 2 games(Zelda, RedSteel), and a 2000 points card. The Wii we shared is now my brothers since I transfered the Wii to my Wii U. Lots of fun years with Smash Bros, Zelda, VC, etc.
PS3: My parents were remodelling our house, and were getting an HDTV. I suggested a PS3 to be paired with the HDTV. We ended up getting a 250GB slim, an extra controller, and Metal Gear Solid. I was in awe that my parents bought us a PS3 and a game. It wasn't even Christmas or anything... RE5 and Killzone 2 were my most played besides MGS4.
Xbox 360: I wasn't especially fond of the Xbox, but I ended up having quite a bit of fun. I had played Bioshock and Gears of War when those were all the rage, but I didn't really see much else, except maybe Geometry Wars and Banjo. The slim came out, and I jumped in or whatever. I replaced it with the Gears console and Kinect, but no longer have them, becsuse Xbox was short lived for me. Halo Reach was awesome 4 people local on Live.
Nintendo 3DS: I wanted one of these pretty bad guys, I'm not gonna lie. The 3D effect seemed like it would be awesome. Pair that with GCN like graphics and better internet and I'm convinced. I ended up not being able to afford one right off the bat, but I found one on Craigslist for $125 that hadn't claimed the ambassador games. I eventually bought a 3DS XL on launch and transferred the ambassador games.
Wii U: Pre-ordered it a month before release. I honestly had no idea what the console would do better. It was literally instinct just to buy the Wii U for me. I understood most of the appeal it had, and went for it regardless. I had been saving for months. I bought the Wii U, NSMB.U, ZombiU, COD BO II, Nano Assualt Neo, and a pro controller. That's all I had money for at the time.

Present day: I'm waiting for games, and wonder what kind of technology this year and the following will bring that make every new console exciting. The Wii U seems that it wouldn't have had the exciting launch like prior console launches, regardless, even if the Wii U was made of gold.
Nothing would have made a difference in my eyes.
Sorry for the wall of text...

EDIT: I also had prior experiences with these consoles before I had them obviously. Also, I played Sega Genesis with my neighbors and eventually had a Sega Dreamcast right after it completely died. Good fun.

Playing Nintendoland with my cousin and sister for the first time. We had SO much fun with the Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion mini games. I haven't had one of those moments since the days of Smash Brothers with my roommates in college, and that was about 6 years ago now.
