For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
Brawl was such a let down for me. After putting over 500 hours into Melee, when I played Brawl for the first time, I immediately felt the difference. My main, Shiek, was slower, and a lot of old combos were no longer possible (Not talking about wave dashes or L cancels).
There's a reason why Melee is the Smash Bros game that make an appearance at gaming events as opposed to brawl. In fact the tremendous love for Melee, is what inspired the fluidity of the Smash Bros currently in development. If you're looking for skilled matches, melee is far superior in combat performance. If you're a causal kinda guy/gal, then yea, I'd say Brawl is for you.
Edit: I should rephrase and say, Melee is the superior fighting game. I do really like Brawl's inclusion of Final Smashes and Assist Trophies. I really enjoyed the 1 time only supspace emissary cutscenes too. Content wise, Brawl definitely has Melee beat. But when it comes down to the heart of Smash, the fighting, Brawl is very broken in comparison.
I'm thinking the same thing. This Melee vs. Brawl debate is just like the Halo 3/ODST vs. Reach discussion. I see people prefer older games, just because they've gotten used to, and possibly really good at the older game in a series, so they don't want to lose the familiarity and advantage.
It's the same reason why new characters in Smash Bros. is a big deal. It changes things up. If people b**** about the new one, it will just show people aren't willing to move past Melee.
I can imagine people complaining about Little Macs flinchless moves and Rosalina's Luma helper already.

Don't try to lump me into that group of people. I prefer Melee, but I think the new additions to the series in Smash 4 are wonderful.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)

Where is this supposed group you guys are speaking of.

I was also thinking the same thing. I remember a similar (or same) group of people hating brawl because it didn't have Mewtwo, Roy, and Dr. Mario, even though they have similar replacement. I can only imagine certain people's reactions when they can't use GameCube controllers on the new systems.
A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

I'm not trying to lump anyone anywhere. I just find it amusing that people disregard the improvements they made in Brawl. Alot of the "hardcore" mechanics are still there, they're just implemented differently. The animations are smoother, the hit boxes are more accurate and can vary(Mario's meteor smash), the physics(besides gravity) have improved, more content...
There are better aspects in both Brawl AND Melee, but ultimately I think Brawl's improvements were more important. Smash 4 is supposed to draw the aspects people liked about both, while still being an improvement.

Ya, technically Lucario is a clone. I think they just wanted a more recent Pokemon in the game. I still think Toon Link is an improvement over Young Link. Pichu, Dr. Mario, and Roy basically didn't even need to be there.
People need to get over the GCN controller, IMO. There are adapters, but I don't see why people have given up on transitioning to new controllers. Going from N64 to GCN was just as much as a jump as going to the Classic Controller(Pro) and now the Wii U Pro controller. Nintendo, Atari, and Sega always had new controllers to get used to, so I don't see why it's a problem.
EDIT: It was a change to go from the original Xbox to the Xbox 360 controller, too. It's not surprising that controllers change. Playing Smash Bros. 4 with a Pro controller will pretty much be like playing it on an Xbox 360 controller.
