So, my NL buds, unfortunately, I'm getting old. I'm the big 3-0 and that thing called L-I-F-E got in the way and unfortunately all my friends that used to play Smash Melee with me (GCN was the last time I was a true "gamer" until recently) have all moved on from gaming and I'm now left pretty much alone, which really takes half the fun out of it for me, especially for fighting games. Of course, online is always an option, but nothing is like that competitive energy in a room with friends. I'd like to meet other people who enjoy Smash, not necessarily "experts" who are going to kick my ass every match, but maybe people who are still learning like me.

I know there are communities of people for Smash. Is it all online, or do people meet up for competitions? And, is it usually Weekly? Monthly? Yearly? I'd really like to meet a community of people that would have a good amount of mid 20's to mid 40's people that play Smash.

For what it's worth, I'm in Massachusetts, the North Shore of Boston. If anyone has any info, please let me know! Thanks!

P.S.- It doesn't really have to be Smash. If there are communities for other good games, even maybe not Nintendo games, just let me know. THANKS AGAIN!

The smash scene is a very strong one! You should definitely be able to find some group in your community. A lot of places have weekly and monthly tournaments. In my state there's Windy City Smash that has weakly tournaments. There's online tournaments too usually hosted on reddit. Try googling around Boston smash bros.

Thank you so much, fellow retro-er! (I'm a retro_in_theHOME kinda guy!!) I will start searching for tournaments!!

Thanks, man! As much as I love it, though,, I'm beginning to think of something more game-centric I can change it to.

Something from a series everyone knows but a piece of it most haven't thought to take a pic from. hmm

In a big city like Boston, there have to be some groups like that. Here in DC there is one group of guys that has a few gatherings every now and then. We just had one for the 3DS Smash release, and we had a MK8 tournament as well. It was my first time going, and there were about 30-35 people, and it was considered a "small" gathering, but it was just about the right size for me. The one being planned in December for Smash Wii U is expected to be much bigger.
