Topic: Mario Party U (Thoughts and Suggestions)

So, hey! I have a feeling Mario Party might come to the Wii U someday. Maybe like 2015 or later.
What do you guys want for a Mario Party Wii U game?

I want Mario Party U to look as pretty and gorgeous as Mario Kart 8.
I want there to be a great online mode that allows you to play with friends and others with Voice Chat.
I want the roster for the game to be fairly big.
I want the single player experience to be fun, too.
I want the worlds to be themed for various Nintendo series. Examples: A Earthbound themed world? A Zelda themed world? A Metroid themed world? A Starfox themed world? A F-Zero themed world? HECK YEAH!!!!

What about you guys?

I'm sorry if there's a thread already for this game.

I DON'T want another Mario Party. There are enough already....nearly a dozen.
But I guess we can expect it since Nintendo will keep making money from the franchise for as long as time exists.

I would like to see a new entry in the series for two reasons.

1) It would be really nice to have an HD version of Mario Party.
2) With the Wii U setup, you can potentially have five human players at once, which is awesome.

I'm a bit meh on the potential of an on-line capable version of Mario Party - its core strength is in its multiplayer, and online multiplayer generally just isn't the same sort of experience.

I think they could do some really fun things with the GamePad. I'd also like an online mode.

I just wish they'd hand the series to another development team, the recent ones have been pretty lame IMO.

Expect it in a few years then.

I personally find Voice chat pointless.

I want the roster for the game to be fairly big.

With Mario characters?

I want the single player experience to be fun, too.

Play something else then. Mario Party was never meant to be single player only.

Heck no.

What about you guys?

I don't really care about Mario Party

Oh, agreed. Another development team that has actual skill should have their hands on the game.

I'd rather stick to the N64 originals. At least they were fun and original, unlike the later games which have gotten mixed reviews.

The classics were pretty nice!!!

Sounds like they could just change the game to "Nintendo Party" and have characters from different franchises, too. I suppose it could add some new things to the series.

I'm not against online, but I can't see four people randomly meeting up online to play a 40 minute game together. I've played Black Ops Zombies on Wii a lot and let me tell you, it's hard to find people who are willing to continue the game for more than half an hour, or sometimes even more than 10-15 minutes!

Personally, I like the single player game mode in Mario Party 1. The mini-game island. It played sort of like SMB3 or Super Mario World where each stage was a mini game. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that again.

In order for me to get Mario Party 10, though, it would have to go back to it's traditional gameplay and get rid of that silly vehicle that everyone travels in together.

As for the gamepad use, I doubt it would be a 5-player game. I think up to four players would play with Wii remotes and the gamepad would be used for certain mini-games and the game would tell you which player would use the gamepad.

I would honestly be surprised if this game isn't confirmed during this years E3 just seems like something that nintendo can make pretty quick and easily and afterall nintendo does need to get games out as soon as they can

Island Tour was so bland that the series isn't interesting anymore. I would love to see Mario Party 1-3 hit the Wii U VC, and call it a day. If they were to make another one, they need to draw inspiration from the originals, instead of shaking up the formula so much it becomes an entirely different game.

My ideas:
1. Rosalina as a newcomer
2. Donkey Kong as a returning playable character for the first time since 4
3. Bigger, more traditional game boards
4. An online minigame mode (online wouldn't work too well in Party Mode)

Yeah, that sound like it would work. I think their should be a friend only online party mode as you might be able to get people you know to play for a whole party. I think they'd need to improve the minigames, they hit rock bottom with Party 8.

I think the problem is that Nintendo put a lot of effort into it when it was first out on the N64 but then very quickly it became a budget-title, not much effort put into it and little output. Unfortunately they've put themselves into a position where, to produce a masterpiece of the Mario Party franchise, they need to put in a lot of money and time. That's a gamble with a franchise that is slowly losing it's fanbase. Will it turn people around and back to it? Or will it flop and cost the company millions? As has been mentioned before, it's more likely Nintendo will produce a sub-par sequel with little money going into it, safe in the knowledge it will return a small profit. Nothing wrong in that, it's business.

That said if they did release a new one, I'd like to see the number of boards double, half of them new and the other half 'retro'. Similar to the Mario Kart courses now. They could do the same with minigames, as in, retro minigames and new. Even if they don't do this, then a HD remake of "the best of mario party" will do me. It'll be interesting to see what they include or not. A wider variety of playable characters too and yeah, Rosalina must be a shoe-in.
