@Undead_terror: Yes, the update is out and the new things work wonderfully
However, the server for uploading levels is down, at least for me. So I have to wait before uploading my new level.
Well, the update's out and as expected; I love it. 2 things I found out from messing around with the features. You can't put the Pink Coins in ? Blocks and...
I imagine that the checkpoints might save the key coin count and when play-testing the level to prove its upload-worthy; the game will act as if you didn't collect any.
I predicted this correctly! Checkpoints DO keep track of how many Pink Coins a player's collected.
...Kinda don't like them being called "Pink" Coins, I'll stick to just key coins.

I wish the giant pillars had adjustable length. I find these to be much too short for some of my ideas, like having a horizantal pillar stretch across the whole stage. Also they don't move unless the player can see them, which is good for preventing jerk level designs but bad for my aforementioned idea.
I think at this point; I'll definitely use the Key Coins as Star Coin replacements. It just makes more sense; though I'm still going to put the 1-UP Mushrooms in my levels for the sake of... tradition I guess.
A nice little easter egg for Super Mario Bros. mode. When you put a door over the castle doorway, Mario opens it to enter when you reach the flagpole. If the door is a key door; Mario will try to open it in vain and duck in sadness, while having a spare Key when beating the level will have him use it to enter the castle.
It's the little things that count.

I've already uploaded something with the new features, too. This level is a huge ghost house that requires you to find 5 pink coins to complete. I've put the timer on maximum, but without the checkpoint (that indeed saves the pink coins you've managed to collect before its activation) it's very hard to do. (When playing that level from the beginning, which was required from me to upload it, in the end, the timer went below 100, despite me knowing where the coins were.)

makes a comment about wanting Squid Girl in Super Mario Maker on Youtube, everyone keeps telling me that she's been in the game since day 1
...Ok, the internet can't be THIS stupid.

Look, dude, just start clarifying who you mean. Stop acting surprised and offended when people reasonably assume that 'Squid Girl' - when used in the context of a Nintendo game - refers to the main character of one of Nintendo's most popular new titles (who happens to be and a squid and a kid/girl), rather than the protagonist of a comparatively obscure Japanese animation that is far less well known in the West. This is at least the forth time you've publicly complained about being misunderstood, and yet after each time you've made no attempt to make yourself clearer or less ambiguous.
In the future just write, "I hope we get a Squid Girl (AKA "Ika Musume") costume". It goes an awfully long way to clarify what you mean. It's not that hard, you'd be misunderstood less, and we wouldn't have to read as many comments about how stupid the Internet is for not being well acquainted with an anime that you're particularly fond of.
Anyway, speaking of Japanese things, some of you may remember that a few months ago, Nintendo teamed up with popular Japanese gaming-variety show Gamecenter CX to promote Super Mario Maker, by challenging the host, Shinya Arino, to play through various viewer submitted courses. One of my levels was featured on the shortlist for Mr. Arino to choose from, but... unfortunately wasn't the one he chose to play from that category. Anyway, I noticed that one of the new features on the Mario Maker Bookmark site is called 'Special Collections', which features all the Arino Courses, and lo and behold, mine is there! This is the link to all the levels, this is my one that got featured, and this is an particularly ingenious one that was featured on the stream (at 1hr3mins), which I recommend because it's awesome.
Or they could stop arguing constantly and just look her up on Google or something.
I am not the crazy one, all of you are crazy.
That is what that sounded like. If everyone else is confused about what you are talking about, then you need to clarify what you are saying. If it was just a few then they would need to get the information

I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

@Megumi: Which do you think is easier; you clarifying yourself, or getting every person on the Internet to look up the details of Ika Musume/Squid Girl? Why would they look up Squid Girl themselves, when their initial assumption is that Squid Girl refers to the main character of Splatoon, who appropriately is a squid and a girl.
@DefHalan IKR. This is the second time I've had to argue against this mentality in two days. It's exasperating. It's like:
"Why should I have to change? Why can't everybody else change?"
"Because... Because that option is SEVEN BILLION times harder!"
It's a complete reluctance to shoulder any responsibility. Although I've got a feeling half the appeal of posting ambiguous 'Squid Girl' comments is just to be able to then write doleful, self-pitying 'nobody understands me and my squid cartoons, why is the world so broken' type comments when people inevitably misunderstand.
I've had a bit of a problem with my "Strangulation" course which prompted me to edit and re-upload it. Now there are two checkpoints within the course; they save the pink coins collected before the activation. And once one checkpoint has been activated, the other deactivates again, meaning that it can be used again to further save your progress.

Since I last posted I've uploaded 2 new levels I think. First one is called Spiky splatoon ID is 6D08-0000-01DA-4BB1 & my second level is called Red coins & keys ID is 3B86-0000-01EE-CD10. Hope you all enjoy them
So unless you can easily run back, you can't upload levels with check points and red coins placed throughout the level, I got red coins in the main and sub areas with check points in both, as I need to make sure my check point is legit, the red coins can't be saved and I can't turn back...
