My only disappointment was the lack of SMB2 or 3 tile sets. Otherwise this has a lot of potential.

What was with the Mario Paint fly randomly appearing on the editor screen? I would love it if they brought back that goofy game. Was just talking about that the other day.

You never know. The NSMBU visual option could just be one of many.

Either that or an update/expansion could bring in SMB2 USA's system, same for World's.

I'd bet money that Mario 2 and 3 will be expansions. Like 10 dollars (15?) for the game, 5 for each pack. I think that's fair because you create levels you can play and Mario 2 and 3 has a lot of stuff to use.

Heh, maybe if you buy super mario bros 3,2 world from the eshop you get 'em here or a dlc pack.

Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.

All I know is the levels in the Newer mod are miles better than anything Nintendo has made in the NSMB series.

I just hope they can be played in sets of 8 or whatever not messing around individually all the time and there is some way to work out the decent ones.

(Failing that I guess I will go through 3 and World and work out the bits I like the best and stitch those bits together.)

Nintendo's heart is not in making them well any more. (Contrast to say 3D World/Galaxy where they were trying hard).

Looks interesting, but it seems like it will be something that is fun for a few hours then never gets touched again.

It's covered on the Treehouse right now.

It looks like a lot of fun, and expect a LOT of Kaizo Mario-esque levels to come out of it.

Though it does look ultimately really limited with only a handful of enemies and block types.

Do you think this will be a retail release? The levels looked so short, and it didn't seem like you could save more than a few levels as opposed to making your own full game, so it kind of seemed like something they'd put on the eShop for cheap, but then I don't know why they would give it so much attention at E3 in that case.

I can see Mario 3/World but I can't see Mario 2 happening, gameplay wise it's a bit different to the standard Mario fare.

Although Amazon and others list the title with a default/high price, I think retail or not is yet to be decided. According to the NoA site, the "Mario Maker" name is a working title and at the Treehouse Live they seemed cautious to go into any other details than editing in the 8-bit mode.

It has quite a bit in common with Mario vs Donkey Kong. They already know how to do that as well.

Little Big Planet U Mario Maker looks pretty cool actually. I'm tempted to pick up a Wii U after this E3.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

I really hope they include things like castles, underwater levels, riding Yoshi and power ups otherwise it'll be a waste.

So basically they're just releasing the tool they use to make the NSMB games..

I don't think the internal tools look anything like this and I don't think they use the Wii U to design their courses.
