Apparently almost every amiibo will be compatible in this game with big numbers like that. That's great even if those characters can only be seen in Super Mario Bros. levels.
There hasn't even been that much amiibo yet! What would the rest of the spaces be for? Future amiibo or non-amiibo costumes?
Apparently you can unlock costumes by completing the 100 Mario challenge so not all of them are amiibo-related.
Treehouse Live Day 3 segment up separately on YouTube as well:
There was a short segment at the very end at day 3 as well, where all the Treehouse Live staff got to test different community levels. Don't know if that will get a separate YouTube link.
amiibo Yoshi is only available in 8-bit. Yoshi egg is only available in SMW and NSMBU modes (in the older modes, the Yoshi egg is replaced by the Goomba's shoe in the palette).

Does 8-bit mean both Super Mario Bros & Super Mario Bros 3, also does that apply to all the Amiibo costumes/characters being only available in the Nes era then?
Sorry if it's already been answered, but is there any info on a multiplayer mode, like in SMB 1, 3 or world? I'd really like to go down nostalgia lane and play with my dad like 20 years ago...

You could just hand off the controller. They did show off that you could have someone on the GamePad selecting levels and other people playing levels trading off the controller, for more of a party type game feel.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Ok, thanks for the info!
Yes, handing the controller would always be an option, but I hoped a game mode similar to the original one might be included. Still, we'll have a lot of fun with it.

I'm super excited about this game because it actually brings back memories. I remember being in Thailand and seeing a whole booth full of those bootleg gba games with the different edited Mario games. The one I remember specifically was titled "Mario and the mystery of the flying fish" and it had cheep cheeps floating through the land levels. Now I can enjoy this kind of thing without the legal ramifications. I'm kinda hoping that some of the advanced Mario world hackers will at least try to recreate some of their levels in this and distribute them.
The amiibo features look cute too...it might even persuade me to buy a couple of them

Wait, is Yoshi limited to Amiibos only? Because that might kill it for me. That's a staple of the later games...
No, you can put Yoshis in the game to ride. I remember seeing it at the Nintendo World Championship.
Oh. What little info I could seemed to only talk about the Yoshi amiibos, but I think they were meaning that Yoshi would only be playable in the 8-bit portions with the amiibo.
You can not upload unbeatable levels. You need to beat the level you've created before you can upload it.
You can not upload altered versions of levels you've downloaded.
You can follow certain creators and get updates whenever they upload a new stage.
The level's difficulty is assigned by how many players complete it. If a low percentage of players complete it, it's classified as hard. If a high percentage of players complete it, it's classified as easy and vice versa.
The more players that give your level a star (i.e recommend it) the more visible it becomes. Rankings based on global, regional, weekly and all-time are available.
There will be a limit of 10 levels you can upload initially, but the limit increases the more players recommend your levels.

Not sure I like the last rule, but the first rule is great. Keeps it from becoming I Wanna Be the Guy: Super Mario Maker Edition.

In this picture you see that the isabelle amiibo card and the figurine amiibo are wearing different jackets. that could mean every amiibo that has two versions like Mario (mario series and smash) or Isabelle for that matter could have there own unique skin.

Or it just means that you shake the figure in the editor to change the color of the figure, just as you do with other items.
