imagine getting to King Dodongo in OoT Master Quest only to find out that there are 5 Stalfos in the same room and you have to do all this with only 4 (or 5?) hearts.

You just described Hyrule Warriors.
Not really, there's some distinct differences which makes my idea very different:
1) Stalfos are complete weaklings that don't even defend themselves in Hyrule Warriors whereas in OoT Master Quest they are clearly the hardest miniboss to defeat (sure Iron Knuckle is pretty much One Hit KO but it's very slow so very easy to dodge).
2) Hyrule Warriors is very open whereas a typical boss room in a traditional LoZ game is very enclosed.
3) When you're in danger and have no potions in Hyrule Warriors you can quickly rush to a red jar and get health back whereas in traditional LoZ games if you don't have any fairies you can't get health back.
Sure Zelda U seems to be changing a lot of typical LoZ features but of course we know very little about that game.
Yeah, Stalfos are hardly a threat in Hyrule Warriors. I was doing a three heart run of Ocarina of Time recently, and you want to know what I was most scared to fight? Stalfos. Nope, not the bosses, not the Iron Knuckles, not even Ganon himself. Stalfos. They always show up in pairs, and they do an entire heart of damage, and they do two hearts if a jump attack connects. And the worst part about that jump attack is that it usually breaks through your shield. What's worse is that there are a few times in the game where you if you defeat one, you have to defeat the other one quickly or else it'll regenerate.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
Honestly don't feel like waiting all the way until September. Why does it have to take so long? Now I don't have anything to look forward to except maybe the Mario Kart 8 DLC in May.
The only thing I'm worried about is that, even though it seems like it would be an obvious thing to do, I feel like for whatever reason, Nintendo will not allow us to upload our created stages online to share. They have a tendency to just screw over the online community.
EDIT - wait I just saw a video where they said we can do that. Well that is good to hear. Thank god.
Was hoping for earlier release date but they can take their time. To me the most important thing is that a game is released not when it's released. I don't think I'm creative enough to make good stages but I'll download stages made by others. I'm actually studying to become a programmer so I guess it would be a good thing to know a little about making good levels too.
It's its, not it's.

My question is how elaborate can you get with the level designing? I saw open chasms and such. Where are the water obstacles as well as the bloopers or cheep cheeps? Can we even design water levels? what about getting a pipe to go underground and continuing the level from there?

Keep it PG-13-ish.
I'm glad this game is a September release. It gives me time to save up and concentrate on other games.
Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

It's funny that there's normal Hammer Bros. in the Super Mario World maker as there's not any normal Hammer Bros. in that game, only the flying ones.
Also noticed that with Wiggler in classic mode. Will be interesting to see if Yoshi will be in this and what kind of bosses we can use in the game. Would be fun to see the Koopalings or just how things will look in switched from NES to SNES to Wii mode.
