Topic: Mario Maker Not Unlocking New Tools?

So I'm on my third day of playing and I noticed when I logged in today, no tool set unlocked for me. It unlocked for my daughter and my wife but under my profile, the toolset was not available. I have tried restarting the game. I'm not sure how to get it to work but I'm tired of seeing the same two toolbar sets. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks!

I've heard that alot of people are having issues with the tool unlocks. Since I don't have the game I can't really give you any advice besides emailing Nintendo and letting them know of the issue as it seems the game is in dire need of a patch.

Nintendo updated the game so that everything unlocks within a day. I believe you have to use the creation tool for 15 minutes to unlock each level now.

Well I've clocked about 15 hours now and I still only have the first two toolbars, nothing else.

I have had the same issue but now I have unlocked everything within a couple of days.
My best advice would be, go on the editor and just scribble - fill the levels as much as you can making sure you use every item, and do it in different stages, and repeat each time you get something new.
I have unlocked three sets today just by scribbling in the level editor like an idiot.

You have to select and place each new item atleast once on your level before the next set can be unlocked. If an item hasn't been used, there is a little red circle with an i next to it.
Other than that, I have no idea what's going on.

Oh yeah, I've used EVERYTHING. I've also tried the scribbling trick. Nothing else unlocks. There are no red circles next to any of the tools. I have no clue.

I just sat and played like 20 minutes, scribbling and shaking every item on the screen, nothing changes. Ugh. So frustrating.

I have no plan how it really works now.
Even though I had the patch, I still did the time travel trick, and it worked perfectly fine for some reason. I played 5 minutes on the editor(actually doing nothing and just waited) until I got the notice that the next set will unlock the next day. Then I changed the date to 1 day later. And then repeating.

Hmm.. If really nothing works, try to delete your Mario Maker save file, maybe? I don't know if you have to be online to start the game, but stay offline and unlock everything it my way. Then patch it.

Lay bricks. Each time a truck arrived for me, I was laying down some sort of block.

I gave up with it and jut changed the day and got it all that way.

If changing time doesn't work, spam items, like others have said.
