lmao. The blue shell was in Mario Kart 64!!

It also hits more than one player since it slides, lol.

Just for you.

More players means more item usage. But, you know, they could always lower the amount that blue shells show up if people like you complain enough.

See then that's the way it should be then. It clearly wasn't used much at all in that game. because I don't even remember it. Mario Kart 7 and Wii have forever etched that blue spiny piece of dump into the back of my ass for eternity. Mario Kart please be fun again please. PLease go back to the das where you didn't have to purposely stay in the middle of the pack to win the race in the end like some kind of parasite living off of another racer. Good bye Mr. Pro gamer (now in 8th place) This little 5 year old just won the race and it was the first time I have ever play the game in my life. All I needed to know was how to throw that blue spiny thing at you and I win.

I'm not saying that I am a "Pro gamer" I am making a point that someone who has absolutely no skill can ruin someone else's race. And it isn't just local, the AI does it in grand prix. Do you seriously think it is fun if you are on your 4th race and don't get gold because of a last second blue shell?

Oh. Sorry. I thought you were calling yourself the pro gamer in your scenario, seeing as how that exact scenario happens to you and you're in the place of "mr. pro gamer" ... but alas, I was wrong.

Honestly, I don't lose golds due to blue shells very often. I'm not saying it never happens, but it's not very often that I actually lose a gold (for the whole cup) because of blue shells. Yeah, I get upset, but that's because i'm having fun. If I wasn't having fun, I wouldn't care. You can't have the highs without the lows. If you turn on the game and get golds just for participating, then that's not very fun. And this isn't a game that comes down to skill. There's also luck. Like monopoly or pretty much any board game or card game. It takes skill and luck to win. It's not as much fun if winning isn't guaranteed. It's not like playing Super Mario Bros. where you can memorize everything and perfect the game every time you play it. Winning wouldn't be as exciting.

And Super Mario Kart is probably the most frustrating Mario Kart game for me and that game doesn't even have blue shells.

another thing i just thought of is more versus courses since those are always limited or more modes on there would be nice then just coin collecting and such

adding miiverse in a few different ways would be nice

Mate, look at my avatar. Do you think I'm someone who hasn't been playing Mario Kart since the days of the SNES? You talk about Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario Kart like back then winning was pure skill. That back then if you were good you'd get first all the time. What a load of nonsense!

If anything the first two Mario Karts were the most aggressive towards the people in the lead. In both of them you'd always have the CPU on your tail regardless of how well you were going. In Super Mario Kart especially because you'd always inevitably have Mario spontaneously bursting out into invincibility whenever you got close. When you fired a Red Shell at first in a tense race they'd often just jump over it. Yes, Red shell, clear line of sight... they'd jump over it. Mario Kart 64 was probably even more guilty of rubber banding than any other Mario Kart, the Blue Shell wasn't the biggest problem with Mario Kart 64 by a long shot.

If you want a Mario Kart with skill by far the best one is Mario Kart DS. Without even a pause I can say that, that's how good it is. That's even with the Blue Shell which barely makes a difference in that regard IMO. It certainly appears less than the aggressive items in early Mario Karts. If you're losing at modern Mario Karts it's because you suck at Mario Karts, practice and get better... stop blaming the Blue Shells.

Mario Kart 7's Blue Shell basically acted mostly like Mario Kart 64's, and hit everyone in its path as it went along the ground. So Nintendo have at least changed that.

The AI has always been unfairly broken. It's just the difference was that the Mario Kart 64 ones went at warp speed to make up for any player shortcuts or advantages and the later ones got cheap and overpowered items all the time instead. And the Super Mario Kart ones could use a special item whenever the hell they felt like using it, not exactly the 'fairest' thing in the world.

But back to the topic, what I want in Mario Kart Wii U:

More tracks. Why only 32? Why not 40 or 50 like Mario Kart Super Circuit?

Single player vs mode

Online leaderboards for time trials and the return of things like competitions and missions.

More playable characters, like an expanded version of the Wii game's roster.

And bring back free for all battle mode. Heck, I'd love to see 12 or even 16 player free for all battle mode, teams are boring. More interesting battle arenas would be nice too, the ones in the last few Mario Kart games (at least since Double Dash or perhaps even Super Circuit) have mostly sucked.

Yeah, I didn't like the team battle thing at all. We get 12 player online battle mode, coolest thing ever, and then it's split into two teams....

........

Still want time trials to be fixed over anything else though. They got it pretty much spot on in Mario Kart Wii and then they totally buggered it up again in Mario Kart 7. Very annoying. If they fix that and leave everything identical to Mario Kart 7 and introduce the usual new tracks I'd be happy. That's all I want out of a new Mario Kart.

I want new courses based on actual game levels. Not just loosely related to the Mario universe.

Mushroom Cup would be:
Mushroom Kingdom
Subcon
Sarasaland
Mario Land

Based on Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA), Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2 respectively.

Further cups would be based on specific games. Flower Cup would be based on stages from Super Mario Bros. 3, Star Cup would be based on stages from Super Mario World.

If you're losing at modern Mario Karts it's because you suck at Mario Karts, practice and get better... stop blaming the Blue Shells.

If it was just that, it wouldn't be a problem. Blue Shells don't come that often. Its when you are hit by several items from other racers through no fault of your own almost simultaneously... causing you to fall of the course. So we suck because four of the computer characters get weapons and all attack me on a perilous part of the course? Despite us being in front?

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

@Bass_X0
As I said, if that's a problem find a different game. If you find you're always losing because of it get better at Mario Kart. If you think it's because of the Blue Shell try Super Mario Kart which lacked it but was significantly more aggressive to first place

I would be happy if they just bring back the standard karts from MK64. I really hate all the different cars the characters drive in these modern games.

That's a kart part in Mario Kart 7.

They should use the touch screen for items or something.

Oh and maybe, put a item that switch you're camera from your TV to the Wii U gameplay.

I think they need to standardise a way to switch the game from the TV to the GamePad

I agree with this idea, I think more tracks should be based on specific game locations. It's why Airship Fortress, Luigi's Mansion and Tick Tock Clock are some of my favourite levels.

But I don't think each cup should be based on one game, mix it up a bit. I'd also want to see some tracks based on Wario Land, WarioWare, Donkey Kong Country and Yoshi's Island. Maybe the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series too.
