In one of the recent Nintendo Direct videos, President Satoru Iwata confirmed that a new addition to the Mario Kart series was in development for Wii U. As of now, I'm probably more anticipated for this game than any other Nintendo game. They haven't shown any footage or screenshots yet, but I have high hopes for the latest installment of Mario Kart. I hope to see plenty of new characters, such as the Koopalings. I also hope to see the return of Mission mode from Mario Kart DS. Since this is the Year of Luigi, I hope to see a new race track based on Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. Comment what you guys would like to see in the upcoming racing game.
i think it would be pretty cool if you could aim and throw weapons with the gamepad allthough im not sure how this would factor into multiplayer. i really wanna see a driving game that lets you look around streetU style.
Oh man, I can't wait. Though I don't expect much from Mario Kart for Wii U. I doubt there will be a return to bikes (because they were...I don't want to say OP, because that's not entirely true, but much more powerful than a Kart), though I would really like to see a comeback with Bikes.
Like I said, I don't expect much from them, but we'll have to see.

I also have a 3DS and Wii U.
I would like a Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon track. As you go through one of the mansions, the Evershade Valley ghosts would try to stop you by throwing things or even altering the environment.
This times 100. Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon so needs a track to represent it in Mario Kart U.
Not sure which mansion to base it on though, they'd all make for interesting Mario Kart track locations... Personally I'd go with Treacherous Mansion myself.
Mario Kart U should start a to impose new mechanics if I'll consider to buy it anytime soon. I love the game, and have played all the seven installments in the years before, but I don't know, I grew up bored with Mario Kart Wii. Mario Kart 7, however, was a please to have played such a jewel, nobody cheated on the online, perfect drifting turns, decent speed, and wacky items that didn't tocuh the 'OP' line to become irritable and inescapable, like the Blue Shells, more than once. I think that was the first game to ever introduce the feature to dash quickly and avoid getting hit by that Shell, which is a relief and adds more difficulty to the gameplay.
I want something new, a surprise that no one will have expected, as they made it in Mario Kart 7. If they make an unforgettable Mario Kart, my money (and body) would be ready.

Surprise me at E3, Nintendo.
completely agree dude, its not good enough to pump out mario karts with little to no changes to gameplay obviously the core gameplay should stay the same but something needs to be stepped up. i dont know maybe the tracks should be come a little more animated and interactive.

The problem with Mario Kart is that there are only so many Mario level themes. The only non-new track style I can think of is something along the lines of a Sweet Sweet Galaxy style. Very Wreck it Ralph come to think of it.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

A track made out of candy... that would be pretty cool, but like you said it's a bit too similar to Wreck-It Ralph.
I just want a perfectly functioning online. I haven't been able to get a single game of MK7 online. MKWii works flawlessly online. Smash Bros. is a laggy mess.
One thing I didn't like about MK7 was that the propeller for underwater and the glider for in the air didn't change up the experience that much. With Diddy Kong Racing you had karts, planes, and hovercraft and they all controlled quite differently.
I don't think karts should be abandoned, but I'd like to see some other vehicles like submarines or space ships/rockets (let's venture into Mario Galaxy) to be featured as well.
I'd also like to see them have a game with only new courses rather than half new half retro ones.

Actually no, MKWii's online is not much different to Brawls online. You don't have a chance to see the lag. I'm run into many moments where I shoot a green shell, it hits them, but they don't take the hit? Yeah, definitely not lag right? Although this is usually compensated for aiming a little bit ahead of their direction. You don't usually get a chance to see MKWii's lag unless what I just said happens, or something similar to that. I've also passed the finish line right before someone else, and it ended up being them in 1st. I am CERTAIN I was ahead of them on my screen. Also, you know those moments when Red Shells just hit the wall? Yeah, that's lag. If you play offline, you'll notice the red shell will avoid ALL obstacles. (Maybe not if they go sharp around the corner and it hits the wall, but I haven't tested that). When you play online, regardless of that tactic I said in the parentheses, most of the time it ends up running into obstacles.
And as for Brawl, it isn't THAT bad unless you're playing with someone who has a bad connection, or someone who is very far from where you live. If you're playing Free For All's, like Basic Brawl (Or on friend roster), even team matches, then you're going to most likely get horrible lag. 1v1's have a reduced chance of lag, though.
