Topic: Mario Kart 8 roster starting to feel like a Joke.. Is Nintendo going in the right direction?

Personally Ive never been a mario kart fan but I picked up a copy to give it ago and I love it, its great fun to play online and been playing a lot with my Niece who also loves it.

The one thing I did like about the Mario Kart games was the battle arena mode but thats gone which is a real shame and not sure why they took it out...

Mario Kart was still good back when there were only 8 characters. If you can't have fun with the game even with the significantly expanded roster there's something wrong with you. The game isn't a character selection screen, it's a kart racer.

Why are there add metal here characters? Because that means that the developers get a new character with a few hours of work; there's no need to work on some pesky character models, audio or animation. Simple as that.

Yes, the newest entry of a franchise will inevitably have similarities with its predecessors, but like others have said Mario Kart 8 builds on the foundation and adds so much new, creative content (the track-list is great) that it's hardly fair to call it a joke.

True. as much as I love MK8 (more than 7 because the tracks just blow it out of the water) they shouldn't have made the classes so imbalanced. I'm SOOOOO tired of seeing online lobbies chocked full Warios, Martons, Rosalinas, Bowsers, Fat Miis, and Roys...and one Daisy (that's me ).

OK, I had too much fun with that. On topic (the REAL topic), I hated the babies at first, but now I love them too much T_T. Baby Rosalina's flutter kick trick is by FAR the cutest trick in the game. Not to mention how gratifying it feels to beat an 8000+VR fire-hopping Morton user with Babeh Daisy...hehehe. I do miss King Boo though, in MK:DD I had a Religion/Evolution team of DK and King Boo, it was epic...never cared for Bowser Jr.; the Koopalings more than make up for his loss.

False. Splatoon, Super Mario 3D Land/World, Pikmin, Dillon's Rolling Western, Pushmo, Denpa Men, S.T.E.A.M., etc.

I agree that texture swaps, while being new in case of Pink Gold Peach, feel cheap, since it's not even remotely hard to make them, but metal characters are pretty much the only victim of this. The Tanooki Peach and Cat Mario models are at least new when considering the tail and ears, so nobody can say they just copy-pasted stuff with altered textures.
My signature addresses the actual issue with the characters. And to the people who keep spouting the same old "then don't get the DLC" line: that only means I cannot access Link, not that he's outta the game. Without the latest patch, no online. And it's obvious that many are going to further shame the Zelda series by driving him, which means he's gonna be everywhere in online matches.

Funny enough, people were actually complaining about how the Animal Crossing felyne costumes in MH4U were completely out of place, but when it's Link, nothing's too pitiful. Nintendo's cameo rampage is already going in every wrong direction possible, and it can only get worse.
